OVERVIEW:
Sunshine Marine Lodge is a fantastic option for travelers on a budget looking for a remote property with good access to diving. Many clients choose to complement their stay here with a few days at sister property Sunshine Hotel.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Sunshine Marine Lodge is situated on a beautiful cliff on the north-east coast of Zanzibar, in the northern part of Matemwe. It sits just opposite Mnemba Island, the best dive site in the whole of Zanzibar.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT SUNSHINE MARINE LODGE:
There are 23 rooms, all built under Makuti thatched roofs. Every room has a comfortable queen-sized bed and en-suite facilities. The bedroom accommodation has been cleverly designed to take advantage of the cool ocean breeze, avoiding the need for air conditioning. For families with children under the age of 6 years, we always request a ground floor room or a room without a balcony for safety reasons. If you stay here with us, please ensure this is what you are given.
The communal areas consist of a small plunge pool and a larger infinity pool looking over the Indian Ocean.
*Please be aware that the swimming pool here has no depth markings, so take care before you jump in!*

ACTIVITIES AT SUNSHINE MARINE LODGE:
- As Sunshine Marine Lodge is built on the cliff, it does not have the same access to the beach as Sunshine Hotel, but it has overcome this problem via a pier that extends into the ocean, allowing guests to swim during high tide.
- Additionally, there is just a short walk from camp to Muyuni Beach, one of the best beaches on the island that also offers 24-hour swimming.
- Sunshine Marine Lodge has its very own dive center, called ‘Dive Point’. This boasts brand new dive equipment along with a specially designed swimming pool that is perfect for refresher divers or people looking for PADI training.
- Combine this with its location opposite Mnemba Island, and Sunshine Marine is arguably the best property on Zanzibar for keen divers.
