Siwandu (formerly Selous Safari Camp) is located in the north of Tanzania’s Selous Game Reserve. It is a classy tented camp with a reputation for good value.

OVERVIEW:
This was one of the first camps to operate safaris in the reserve so it has one of the best locations in the park for game – there always seem to be fantastic sightings in the immediate area.

ACCESS & LOCATION:
Located in the north of Selous Game Reserve.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
Siwandu is fairly large compared to the other top lodges in the park, but it is divided into two separate camps, North with six tents and South with seven tents, so it manages to retain a sense of intimacy. The tents are widely spaced along the lake shore, giving wonderful views from the deck outside. Each has its own ensuite bathroom and an open-air hot shower.

What really sets Siwandu apart is its value – there are a number of rooms that are charged at low-season rates. Book early, and one can get a very good price for a camp of this quality.

ACTIVITIES:
Both camps have a swimming pool and their own host, game vehicle, walking guide and jetty for boating safaris. Indeed, the camp operates some of the best boating safaris in the area, due to its location on the edge of Lake Nzerakera. It is also possible to get out onto Rufiji River itself.

Activities at Siwandu are based around standard game drives, as well as boating safaris and walking. It is also possible to head out on fly camping trips from this camp – an extra charge over the normal rates. You can meet our Siwandu Camp guides and learn more about their wildlife experiences and passions here.

"Siwandu competes with Beho Beho and Sand Rivers for best lodge in the park. It certainly has the best game viewing area and although has a somewhat commercial feel is still a great, well, priced option. Book early and you can get very low rates."
