A snapshot

After finishing school, Monica studied Travel and Tourism. She then worked for one year as a safari guide at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, and she has been travelling the world ever since. She has enjoyed several safaris herself in South Africa, namely in the Kruger National Park and the Pilanesberg.

The last time Monica visited South Africa or more specifically Johannesburg was in September 2023, to visit family.

Monica's most memorable experience

“My most memorable travel experience is hard to pinpoint to just one moment, as there have been so many.

I love elephants. They are gentle giants and whenever I’m on safari I look forward to seeing these majestic animals the most. There is something so powerful about them, and a sense of purpose and belonging. They will defend their families passionately, and as my family means everything to me, I really identify with them. The baby elephants are the best, such wonderful and mischievous little creatures, and every time I come across a herd I am always in awe of Mother Nature and all the creatures that surround us and that we take for granted. I look forward to experiencing my next safari and creating new memories and seeing more of the incredible African landscape.”

Monica's Biography

Monica was born in Mozambique, but she moved to South Africa at a very young age, staying there until she had finished studying Travel and Tourism. She knew from a young age that all she wanted to do was travel the world and experience as many new cultures as possible. Her first adventure was working at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, as a safari driver for their attraction Kilimanjaro Safaris.

The travel bug bit Monica right there and then, and so the next 12 years were spent travelling the world while working on cruise ships. Finally she returned to South Africa, where she joined Flight Centre South Africa and worked in sales.

Monica really loves working in Travel. The industry is her home, and she enjoys meeting new people and making their holiday dreams come true. She has sold the world, and due to being based in South Africa a big part of the travel requested was for Mauritius, Zanzibar, Kenya, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. These are areas she feels very much at home with.
