Susan’s Recent Travel Experience
Susan recently visited Rwanda and it exceeded every expectation. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park was truly life-changing — nothing prepares you for coming face to face with a Silverback. The sheer size, the stillness, the sense that he’s as curious about you as you are about him. An hour that will stay with Susan forever. Akagera National Park offered a completely different side of Rwanda, an underrated big five safari experience and far less crowded than other East African parks. Susan had the park and Magashi Private Conservancy almost entirely to herself, which made every game drive feel incredibly special. A visit to the Genocide Memorial in Kigali was deeply moving and important and essential for understanding Rwanda’s extraordinary journey from tragedy to the thriving, forward-looking country it is today. Beyond the gorillas, the landscape itself takes your breath away. Rwanda earns its nickname the Land of a Thousand Hills many times over; rolling green hills, terraced farmland, and mist-drifting valleys at every turn.

Susan’s Bio
Susan’s desire to travel started at a young age, exploding into life in her early twenties with a year-long backpacking trip through Asia and Australasia. From then on, there was no escaping the travel bug, and she sought out a career in the travel industry, joining a leading luxury tour operator. Susan came to YZ in 2014 and has been instrumental in growing and developing the Operations Team with a focus on growth and customer service.
Susan has extensive personal travel knowledge and is our all-round expert on worldwide destinations. In total, she has visited 26 countries within Africa, Asia, Latin America, Australasia, the Middle East, and North America. She has always had a huge passion for exploring the world, and this enthusiasm makes for incredible attention to detail when putting the finishing touches to our clients’ trips.
