Leigh was born and raised in Zimbabwe, so going to the bush was a big part of her upbringing. Holidays and half-terms were often spent heading to some far-flung corner of Zim at the crack of dawn with the family!
Leigh’s love for Africa was what led her to join Yellow Zebra. Her background in Finance means she has a sharp eye for detail in contributing to the Operations Department.

Leigh’s most recent trip was to the South African Winelands to get married, followed by her honeymoon in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The newlyweds’ highlights involved exploring the beautiful mountains in the Franschhoek region, visiting Tea Country in Sri Lanka, and watching the Maldivian sunrises.
“It’s tough to choose, but my most memorable experience was an incredible sighting of wild dog on foot in the Chikwenya concession. For a change, the dogs weren’t on the move and were relatively relaxed, making for an amazing experience. Something else that stands out was visiting Hwange National Park during the rainy season, so not much game was around, but the birdlife was fantastic. We were on a night drive and hadn’t seen much game, so our guide stopped near a pan to let us take in the sounds of the bush at night. As the vehicle turned off, the sounds of what must have been millions of frogs came to life. It was something so simple yet it was so unique, and is something I’ll never forget.”
Leigh was born and raised in Zimbabwe, and was lucky enough to spend many school holidays in the bush with her family. From school trips to Botswana’s Okavango Delta, and camping on the banks of the Zambezi river to visiting the pristine beaches of Mozambique’s islands, she truly fell in love with the wide open spaces Africa has to offer.
After living in Stellenbosch, South Africa for four years, completing a degree in Accounting, Leigh spent six months working on the ski slopes in Aspen and travelling in South America before moving to London to gain further experience in Finance. After working in this field for a while, she realised that she wanted to align her passions and career more closely, and she decided to join the travel industry, specialising in the safari space.
