Our Yellow Zebra Opinion
  • Good for first-timers
If you’re looking for more conventional comfort than a traditional tented camp, this is a good choice. It’s in a busy area though so having a private vehicle and guide is really important.

  • Guests can book an exclusive-use vehicle with a professional driver–guide for days out in the Serengeti accompanied by a picnic hamper. This allows you to cover lots of ground, and year-round sightings include the predatory big cats, large elephant and buffalo herds, and huge numbers of plains game, such as impala, gazelle, giraffe, zebra, and wildebeest. Speaking of which, this is a prime location for the annual Great Migration, so talk to our experts if this is on your wish list!

  • Though rare, highly protected rhino can be seen in the nearby Moru Kopjes area, which is their last remaining stronghold in the Serengeti. Enjoy a half-day rhino-tracking excursion, which includes return transfers in a game-drive vehicle to the protected rhino area, guided tracking, and a picnic hamper with a selection of drinks.

  • Take a short transfer from the lodge to a designated walking spot, where you’ll explore the terrain on foot with an experienced guide and a park ranger. This is your chance to ask lots of questions about the park’s smaller species, its plants, birdlife, reptiles, and insects. Please be aware that 16 is the minimum age requirement for walking safaris.

  • Serengeti Explorer has its own purpose-built, semi-submerged wildlife hide by a permanent waterhole adjacent to the lodge. This is a brilliant photo opportunity as you’ll have incredibly close encounters with the animals without disturbing them.

  • Whether you’re an experienced photographer or just starting out, the lodge’s photo studio has everything you need to level up your skills! There’s an in-house photographer on hand to give you tips and advice, and access to the photo-editing studio is free of charge. For an additional cost, guests can also rent a camera bundle.
