If you are looking for a super-stylish yet intimate lodge, set along the Lower Zambezi, then the fresh and latest addition to the African Bush Camps portfolio, Lolebezi, is a fantastic option. The camp’s name comes from ‘Lole’, the name of the owner’s son, and of course the mighty River Zambezi, ‘bezi’. It aims to provide a wild, remote, and luxurious experience along one of Africa’s most incredible stretches of river.
African Buch Camps specialises in tented camps and lodges across Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia, and was founded by professional safari guide Beks Ndlovu. Lolebezi provides a good range of things to do:
Expertly guided game drives- These take place within the camp’s own wilderness area. The savanna, woodlands, floodplains, and waters are home to a wealth of wildlife, including four of the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo! There are lots of smaller predators and herbivores too, and plenty of birdlife.
Walking safaris- All walks are accompanied by an expert guide. You’ll have opportunities to take a closer look at the plants, insects, and birds of the Lower Zam. The guide will answer any questions and make sure you see as much as possible.
River cruises- Cruising the River Zambezi is always a thrill. You’ll have a lot of fun observing such species as hippo, crocodile, and elephant coming down to drink at the river. And don’t forget to pack your binoculars, so you can look out for waterbirds.
Fishing- The Lower Zambezi is one of the greatest fishing locations. With wildlife surrounding you, take the afternoon at a slowly pace and try some catch-and-release.
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course..
