OVERVIEW:

Loisaba Lodo Springs is a luxury adventure retreat with tented accommodations in Kenya’s 57,000-acre Loisaba Conservancy. The camp’s elevated position affords guests spectacular, uninterrupted views of the remote Laikipia landscape, where the terrain is inhabited by a healthy lion population, as well as elephant, Grevy’s zebra, African wild dog, leopard, and cheetah. As the camp has just eight generously sized suites, the experience is exclusive and private, balanced with just the right amount of adventure. Families are welcome, and there are plenty of activities to engage guests of all ages, including camel trekking, horse riding, and mountain biking. Rates at Loisaba Lodo Springs are full board, inclusive of all meals, soft drinks, beers, house wines, selected spirits, and laundry services.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Lodo Springs is located in Laikipia’s private Loisaba Conservancy. Guests typically arrive by light aircraft at Loisaba airstrip, an hour’s flight from Nairobi Wilson. The flight is followed by a 15-minute drive to the lodge.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT LOISABA LODO SPRINGS:

Guest accommodation at Elewana Loisaba Lodo Springs consists of eight spacious tented rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows and doors that maximise the light flow and showcase spectacular views overlooking Loisaba Conservancy. The interiors strike a balance between luxury and understated style, featuring polished hardwood floors, natural-weave rugs, and a soft, neutral color palette. Front-facing beds take in the glorious views, and each room features a writing desk, an integrated living area, and a well-stocked bar. Every suite also has a dedicated host on hand to attend to all the essential details throughout your stay. Each large, well-appointed bathroom includes an over-sized rain shower with solar-powered hot water, a double-basin vanity, and a flush toilet. Outside, every veranda is furnished with a double sunbed, where guests can admire the vistas and relax with a cold drink in between safari activities.

The elegant, tented main lodge is the heart of Loisaba Lodo Springs, featuring a homely lounge, bar, and dining area. Floor-to-ceiling doors open to a spacious wraparound terrace, creating a seamless indoor–outdoor feel. Hardwood floors, kilim rugs, and plush sofas create a warm and inviting atmosphere, while a fireplace sets the scene for a romantic, candlelit private dinner. Outside, the inviting fire-pit is the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks and a chance to socialise with other guests. Last but not least, take a refreshing dip in the beautiful infinity pool, with its stunning outlook, and browse the safari boutique for souvenirs.

ACTIVITIES AT LOISABA LODO SPRINGS:

A varied selection of activities at Loisaba Lodo Springs takes place mainly within the private Loisaba Conservancy.

  • Expertly guided game drives

    - The conservancy covers over 20,000 hectares of sprawling savanna, scrublands, woodlands, and water sources. Among the wildlife highlights here are all Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo! Smaller predators and herbivores in residence include cheetah, hyena, jackal, wild dog, giraffe, zebra, and antelopes. Drives from Lodo Springs take place early in the morning and late in the afternoon, in the company of your knowledgeable and experienced guide.
  • Bush walks

    - Also enjoyed in the presence of your guide, this activity involves taking a really close look at some of the smaller features of Loisaba, such as the plants, insects, and birdlife. The conservancy is home to more than 500 bird species, making it a fascinating destination for ornithologists.
  • Horse riding

    - This is an exciting opportunity to ride among herds of herbivores. The likes of giraffe and zebra are at ease with safarists on horseback, and Elewana’s horses, in turn, are accustomed to plains game, having been brought up in the bush. However, please note that riding experience is required.
  • Camel trekking

    - Trek through the bush with camels, and gain insight into this traditional mode of transport in these parts of Kenya.
  • Biking

    - Loisaba offers several biking trails. Setting off on the saddle is a thrilling way to explore the conservancy’s diverse landscape.
  • Cultural experiences

    - Elewana has a strong background in caring for both the communities and the wildlife in the regions where the company operates camps. Just one example of a cultural experience here is meeting the local anti-poaching team, made up of four sniffer dogs and their human handlers. Guests can learn about the team’s good works and even view an anti-poaching demonstration! For more information about this activity, or anything else to do with staying at Lodo Springs, please contact a member of the Yellow Zebra team.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
