We are eagerly anticipating the opening of Kanana Nyana. While we haven’t visited as it is yet to open, we expect exceptional service and guiding, similar to that of sister camp Kanana. We are especially excited about this exclusive-use option in the Delta as an ideal option for a small group or family seeking ultimate exclusivity. The camp has two vehicles for guest use, so there will never be more than four people on a game drive. This window seat guarantee means you benefit from extra space and comfort, as well as individual use of a camera mount. Guiding here is truly excellent, and predator sightings frequently include lion, leopard, and African wild dog.
Spot-lit night drives introduce you to the nocturnal life of the bush and you might encounter shy species such as honey badger, porcupine, and aardvark. This is also when leopards become active, and lion prides wake up for a night on the prowl.
Accompanied by an armed guide, walking safaris offer a different perspective on the landscape, allowing you to slow down and observe some of the less obvious details. Spend time watching an insect kingdom, identify brightly coloured birds, and learn fascinating details about the indigenous plant life. Your guide will fill you in on the minutiae of this extraordinary ecosystem. Walks can also be enjoyed on small islands, where you have a good chance of seeing the Pelʼs fishing owl.
A traditional mokoro ride is an essential part of an Okavango Delta safari. When the water levels are high enough, you can drift silently along the shallow channels, taking in life along the banks, perhaps spotting the odd hippo or an elephant at the water’s edge.
Also dependent on the annual flooding of the Delta, motorboat excursions take you into deeper waters, for a different view on the wildlife. Birding here is spectacular, and you’ll have access to a seasonal heronry that is one of the largest in Southern Africa.
Catch-and-release fishing is offered throughout the year (except January and February), when you’ll have a chance at catching tilapia, tiger fish, African pike, and sharp-tooth catfish.

Access & Location

Kanana Nyana is located in the private Kanana Concession bordering Moremi Game Reserve. Guests arrive by light aircraft from Maun, a 20-minute flight, before enjoying a short game-drive transfer to the camp.

This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

Designed to feel fresh and contemporary while honouring the traditional safari ethos, the camp’s understated style blends perfectly with the surrounding landscape. With a maximum of just eight guests in camp at any time, exclusivity is guaranteed. There are just two custom safari vehicles, each seating up to four guests, although they can accommodate up to six if needed. Feel free to keep up with your fitness routine at the on-site gym or book a massage treatment in the privacy of your suite. The camp’s fire-pit invites guests to gather for pre-dinner drinks and stories of the day’s events.

Each room is raised slightly on wooden decks and inspired by the trees of the Okavango Delta, namely the marula, sausage tree, ebony, and mokolwane palm. Spacious, airy, and contemporary, the rooms are designed to offer absolute privacy with uninterrupted views of the surrounding wilderness. Each open-plan bedroom and lounge area features a king-size bed draped with mosquito nets, a writing desk, an electronic safe, a fully stocked mini-bar, and in-suite Wi-Fi. Slide open the doors to step onto your furnished wooden deck, where you can enjoy an open-air shower or take a dip in your private plunge pool between the day’s activities.
