Cassia is a Kenya specialist who grew up in the safari industry. This has led to a deep-rooted passion for exploring the wild.
About Cassia
Born and raised in Kenya, Cassia was brought up in and amongst the hustle and bustle of packing and unpacking safari trucks, often joining her brother and father on safari, and later going on to relief manage in some fantastic lodges across Kenya.
Cassia travels back to Kenya as much as she can, to spend time with her family and beloved dog Daisy. This past year, she returned to Kenya and carried on to Northern Tanzania for a familiarisation trip. She also was lucky enough to travel around the different islands in the Seychelles.
Cassia's most memorable experience
“It is hard to pinpoint my most memorable experience, but one that does come to mind is watching wild dog hunt whilst having sundowners in Laikipia. The African sunset cast an orange tinge across the bush and you could see the pack chasing after a Thompson’s gazelle. There is a reason why they have an 80 per cent success rate, and watching them in action was possibly one of the most incredible experiences.”
Cassia's biography
Born into a safari guiding family and one of the original pioneer families in Kenya, Cassia has grown up in the industry. She went on to secondary school and university in England, returning home to Kenya in the school holidays. She then did an Art degree from Falmouth online, whilst relief managing lodges in Kenya during the Covid years. This led her to write a book called A Guide to Kenya Cowboys, inspired by all the safari guides and pilots she grew up with in Kenya. Whilst completing her degree online from Kenya, Cassia got to explore the off-the-beaten-track parts of the country, namely the northern coast, where she visited over 50 properties across Shela and Lamu Island. Her most enjoyable project was assisting her father with managing 80 tents for the Classic Safari Rally in 2022.
Being a keen horse rider, Cassia loves being out in the bush whilst in the saddle. Having helped friends habituate safari horses in Ol Pejeta, Cassia’s dream safari is a riding safari in Botswana. Despite being based in London, she still tries to get back to Kenya as much as she can, as well as to explore other countries.
