"The location of Tribe is totally unique in Nairobi – set within the grounds of one of the city’s best shopping centres, with great local restaurants within easy reach. For people looking to do some shopping, dining out, and then putting their feet up in a top-class modern hotel surrounded by stunning African art, this is a great choice."

ABOUT THE UNIQUE TRIBE HOTEL:

With a keen emphasis on modern African art, Tribe offers a completely different experience from the ‘Out of Africa’ approach so often encountered in Kenya and other countries. It has a much more contemporary feel, not least due to its location in the grounds of a large, very fun, and vibrant shopping centre. The centre is a real locals’ hangout, making Tribe a great fit with travellers who want to be within easy reach of laidback restaurants and high-quality shops. Accommodation is usually booked on a B&B basis, and the hotel is open all year round.

LOCATED IN NAIROBI, KENYA:

The hotel can be accessed via 26 kilometres’ road transfer from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, which takes between one to two hours, depending on traffic. It’s situated in the suburb of Gigiri, to the north of the bustling city.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT TRIBE HOTEL:

Guest accommodation consists of 137 rooms and suites, across seven categories. At entry level, there’s the Superior Room, offering 320 square feet of floor space and featuring king-size bed or twin beds, air conditioning, 40-inch LED Smart television, work station, and well-appointed en-suite washroom with rain shower. Some rooms have a bathtub too! Step up a category, and you can opt for the more spacious Deluxe Room (420 sq. ft). Select a Junior Suite, and you’ll enjoy additional living space and closet capacity, while the Loft Business Suite provides split-level work/play areas and over-sized windows. The Ambassadorial, Penthouse, and Presidential suites are far more opulent than many of our travellers will require, especially if you’re here for just one night, but do contact a member of our team if you’d like to discuss all the options. Every category is furnished with modern artworks, and the glass walls separating the washing facilities from the bedrooms lend a very open-plan feel. Most of the rooms and suites have lovely views, over the hotel’s pool or towards the nearby Karura Forest.

The communal facilities at Tribe are also adorned with plenty of contemporary art, not least the corridors and corners linking the main areas! The hotel’s stylish atrium offers a very open space in which to relax, with its clean-lined sofas and tables and intriguing light installations. There’s a separate TV & audio room too. The restaurant is called Jiko, and it has a fabulous seasonal menu in tribute to local farmers. An open flame grill is the eatery’s theme, but all sorts of soups, salads, and sandwiches are prepared as well. The hotel’s bar is Nest Rooftop, and it offers super-comfy seating, a Moroccan atmosphere, and a great range of snacks and drinks. Keep-fit fans can get a good workout in Tribe’s well-equipped gym, while anyone in need of a little pampering can head to Kaya Spa for massages, skin specials, and hot-tub bliss. The grounds are great for relaxation too, with their terraces, water gardens, and beautifully landscaped pool!
