OVERVIEW:
Due to open in early 2026, Sediba Sa Rona is a revival of Botswana’s historic Khwai River Lodge in the game-rich Khwai Concession. In partnership with Savannah Expeditions, Desert & Delta will uphold the lodge’s legacy, offering guests a sustainable, low-impact stay in one of the Okavango Delta’s most sought-after wilderness areas. With a picturesque landscape of leadwood and fig tree forests, this area is a key wildlife corridor, overlooking the Khwai river and bordering Moremi Game Reserve. Guests will have the best of both worlds, as the watery setting allows for mokoro excursions and it’s also possible to visit Moremi Game Reserve on daytime game drives for all the predator action! Accommodation is booked on a full-board basis, including all meals, a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, all scheduled safari activities, and a laundry service.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Sediba Sa Rona is located in the private Khwai Concession in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. The lodge is accessed by light aircraft, with a 30-minute flight time from Maun, followed by a 10-minute game drive transfer.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT SEDIBA SA RONA:
Sediba Sa Rona has a total of 15 luxury tents, including 2 interleading units for families, accommodating a maximum of 30 guests. Elevated on wooden stilts and surrounded by nature, all the tents have viewing decks overlooking the Khwai river, providing a front-row seat to all the wildlife action. The lodge style combines airy, contemporary-chic interiors with traditional thatched roofs. Expect crisp white linens, dark wood floors decorated with oversized carpets, marble-top coffee tables, and neutral-coloured drapes. The beds have overhead ceiling fans and pull-back mosquito nets, and feature headboards with 220V AC plug sockets and reading lights. Wi-Fi connection is available via remote satellite in the rooms only, and there’s 24-hour solar power backed up by a generator.
Sediba Sa Rona’s light-filled main areas include open-fronted living and dining spaces where meals are enjoyed communally. There’s a jetty leading to a firepit platform that juts out over the Khwai river for scenic sundown drinks and stargazing under a zero light pollution night sky. On the other side of the firepit deck, the swimming pool is a welcome spot for relaxing between safari activities, and there’s a peaceful shaded area with sunloungers and parasols. The lodge has a curio shop with a well-curated selection of gifts and souvenirs, including books, crafts, and jewellery made by local artisans. There’s also a spa, which offers a selection of beauty treatments and soothing massages.
ACTIVITIES AT SEDIBA SA RONA:
The activities at Sediba Sa Rona are centred on mokoro rides, to make use of the camp’s watery setting, as well as game drives in both the Khwai Concession and Moremi Game Reserve.
-
Game drives
– These take place twice daily within the Khwai Concession and Moremi Game Reserve. This area overall is renowned for its wildlife sightings, including lion, leopard, cheetah, and wild dog. -
Night drives
– Drives after dark within the Khwai Concession are available on request and allow guests to experience the Delta’s nocturnal world and its more elusive species. Please note that night drives aren’t permitted within Moremi Game Reserve. -
Mokoro rides
– Rides on board a mokoro are a unique Okavango Delta activity, connecting guests closely with nature while gliding silently along the reed-fringed water channels. This is an opportunity to look out for small details, including colourful birds, butterflies, and tiny reed frogs. -
Birding
– The Okavango Delta’s birdlife is superb. There’s a huge variety of resident and migratory species, including kingfishers, African fish eagles, the elusive Pel’s fishing owl, and African jacanas. -
Scenic helicopter flights
– Soar high above the Okavango Delta in a doors-off (or on!) helicopter ride. This experience offers guests an incredible aerial perspective over the Delta’s water channels and palm-studded islands.
