ACCESS & LOCATION:
Wilderness Qorokwe is located in the south-east of the Okavango Delta within the 26,000-hectare Qorokwe Private Wilderness Area, bordered by Moremi Game Reserve. The camp is reached via a light aircraft flight from Maun to Gomoti Airstrip (approximately 15 minutes), followed by a 30-minute vehicle transfer. There’s also a helipad approximately 30 minutes by car from the camp (though helipad access is seasonal and might change at short notice).
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT WILDERNESS QOROKWE:
Guest accommodation at Wilderness Qorokwe consists of eight double tents (which can also be configured as twins) and a two-bedroom family unit, each with two three-quarter beds and an en-suite bathroom. The open-plan tents are raised off the ground and linked by wooden walkways, with private viewing decks, outdoor seating areas, and lagoon views. Wooden shutters and mosquito screen sliding doors allow plenty of light and airflow, sheer mosquito nets are draped over the beds, and there are ceiling and pedestal fans. The design favours woven rugs, timber, and local artefacts that contrast with the contemporary styling and ensure the camp retains its sense of place. Tents also feature comfortable indoor seating areas, a writing desk, a luggage rack, an electronic safe, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and yoga mats. Wheelchair access is possible on request. The en-suite bathrooms have indoor showers, freestanding bathtubs placed close to the windows to optimise the views, double vanity units, and separate toilets.
The open-sided communal area is open plan, overlooking the lagoon, and features a dining space with two fireplaces, a library, a lounge, and a well-stocked central bar. The camp also has a pizza oven, a traditional boma, and a breakfast bar overlooking the lagoon. From the main area, steps lead down to a deck with a nicely sized infinity pool and sunloungers. A second deck features a fantastic circular fire-pit surrounded by camp chairs at the water’s edge – a wonderful spot for viewing wildlife and enjoying pre-dinner drinks. Although there isn’t a dedicated spa, two in-house spa therapists provide in-tent spa treatments at an additional cost.
Wilderness Qorokwe is proudly 100 per cent solar powered. Wi-Fi is available in the tents.
ACTIVITIES AT WILDERNESS QOROKWE:
A high-density game area with a variety of habitats, including acacia woodlands, floodplains, and shallow river channels, Wilderness Qorokwe offers a range of year-round activities, both land and water based. The name Qorokwe means “the place where the buffalo broke through the bush into the water” – fitting for a camp frequented by huge buffalo herds.

Game drives
– Expertly guided game drives take place in the morning, late afternoon, and into the evening. Defined by the Gomoti Channel in the east, the concession has permanent water throughout the year, and excellent wildlife viewing is possible whenever you choose to visit. The range of habitats in this region includes vast floodplains and patches of acacia woodland. Guests can expect to see lion, leopard, wild dog, hyena, and high concentrations of herbivores such as buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and antelope. -
Seasonal guided walks
– Guided nature walks provide an exciting opportunity for guests to encounter some of the concession’s smaller species often missed from a vehicle safari, including plants, insects, and birdlife. -
Mokoro excursions
– Mokoro boating is a highlight of any Okavango Delta safari. Aboard a dug-out canoe without a motor and led by a poler, you’ll enjoy close encounters with the wildlife of the water channels, including grunting hippos, tiny reed frogs, and a splendid variety of water birds. Please note that the availability of this activity depends on water levels and the presence of an experienced guide in camp during your stay. -
Boat trips
– Water levels permitting, explore the more distant waterways and deep channels by boat with amazing views of the big game species that quench their thirst on the riverbanks. -
The Gomoti Plains
– Guests staying longer than two nights can enjoy a full-day picnic excursion to the spectacular and productive area of Gomoti Plains, where a jaw-dropping array of wildlife awaits. -
Birding
– With its position overlooking a lagoon full of avian wildlife, Wilderness Qorokwe offers excellent birding opportunities. Farther afield, see resident and migrating birdlife, including African hawk-eagle, ground hornbill, scarlet-chested sunbird, red-billed hornbill, and Gabar goshawk.
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
