OVERVIEW:
Chobe Safari Lodge is not the sort of property we tend to recommend, as it is much too large and doesn't provide an authentic safari experience. However, many travellers enjoy staying here and find it a good base for visiting the area.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Chobe Safari Lodge is situated on the edge of Kasane (a small town) on the banks of the Chobe River, just outside Chobe National Park. It is very accessible as it is close to the meeting point of the borders of Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT CHOBE SAFARI LODGE:
There is a great variety of accommodation available here. Luxury air-conditioned River Rooms with twin beds and large en suite bathrooms. They face north-east and are attached to the main complex. 46 Luxury air-conditioned Safari Rooms: these are newly-built and situated on lawns sloping down to the river but close to the main complex. Traditional thatched Rondevaals with ceiling fans and en suite bathrooms. These are part of the original part of the lodge and are set in gardens to the west of the main complex. And finally, several camp sites, which vary from being very pleasant to rather busy with road noise.
ACTIVITIES AT CHOBE SAFARI LODGE:
This area has one of the largest concentration of elephant in Africa so elephants are frequently seen swimming in the river, along with crocodiles and hippos. The main activities available here are game drives into Chobe National Park, boat cruises to view game along the river, fishing for Tigerfish and bream, and day trips to Victoria Falls.
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
