"The Nimali collection of camps is a fairly new safari company but one that offers high standards of accommodation in a crowded market. This is a very decent little camp albeit one that remains fairly untested by YZ clients."

OVERVIEW:

Previously Nimali Central Serengeti, Nimali Serengeti has relocated to a scenic new site close to Makoma Hill within Serengeti National Park. Offering a higher level of comfort in a quieter area, it’s an excellent option all year round for prime wildlife viewing.

Owned and operated by Nimali Africa, Nimali Serengeti is the sister camp of Nimali Mara and Nimali Tarangire. The company believes that nature is Africa’s finest asset, and this is reflected in its name, which means ‘wealth’. Rates include accommodation, all meals, a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, most activities, parking, Wi-Fi, and a laundry service. The camp is open throughout the year.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Nimali Serengeti is located in the heart of the Serengeti, close to Makoma Hill, within a wildlife-rich area of the national park near one of the main routes of the Great Wildebeest Migration. The camp is usually accessed via flight from Arusha to Seronera Airstrip, followed by a 40-minute game drive road transfer. Surrounded by the plains of the Serengeti, it boasts panoramic views and excellent access to key wildlife areas.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT NIMALI SERENGETI:

Guest accommodation consists of 12 tented suites, including two 2-bedroom family suites, designed to maximize views over the Serengeti plains. Each suite has its own private veranda and en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and separate outdoor shower. Inside every standard suite, there’s a four-poster double bed or twin beds, bedside and overhead lighting, a writing desk, ample storage space, and a separate seating area. Sliding doors from the bedroom open onto a private deck – the ideal spot to relax at the end of each day and marvel at the Serengeti views. Each family unit comprises two standard suites, and adding an extra bed to all rooms is possible. Inspired by the landscape, the décor is light-filled and contemporary, designed with a mostly neutral palette with notes of antique brass.

Nimali Serengeti has a well-appointed central lounge, dining area, and pool deck. The lodge's front façade is completely open, ensuring guests are afforded panoramic views from the communal areas. For those who prefer to spend the whole day on safari, champagne bush breakfasts, lunches, or dinners can be arranged on request. The lodge can provide guests with a gym basket if required, and staff offer a range of spa treatments and wellness therapies for a spot of indulgence between activities. There’s also a fire-pit for guests to gather together and enjoy drinks al fresco while sharing safari stories.

ACTIVITIES AT NIMALI SERENGETI:

Activities from Nimali Serengeti focus on viewing the park’s abundant wildlife, primarily on expertly guided game drives.

  • Expertly guided game drives

    – The savanna, woodlands, and riverine forests of the Serengeti provide habitats for a wide range of species. All Big Five are in residence – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. Don’t forget to look out for smaller predators too, such as cheetah, hyena, jackal, wild dog, and numerous plains game, including giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and vast numbers of antelope! From May to June and October to December each year, the Central Serengeti plays host to the famous Great Wildebeest Migration, so if you visit during these months, you can expect to see enormous herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles. All year round, the park is home to approximately five hundred types of birds, among them Maasai ostrich, raptors, marabou stork, crowned crane, lesser flamingo, and lovebirds.
  • Hot air balloon rides

    – A thrilling add-on to your Serengeti safari, balloon rides involve an early morning launch before dawn to watch the sun rise over the national park. This adrenalin-fuelled activity is a must for anyone wanting an aerial view of one of the most extraordinary landscapes on Earth! After a couple of hours in the air, you’ll glide back down for a champagne breakfast in the bush.
  • Children’s activities

    – Nimali Serengeti offers plenty for children, too. For more information on family-friendly activities, please contact the YZ team.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
