ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT OFFBEAT NDOTO:

Offbeat Ndoto has a central mess tent, with a relaxed, homely lounge furnished with deep-cushioned sofas and armchairs. Mesh panels open out to the bush and allow the breeze to flow through during the day. By night, meals are served on the opposite side of the tent, where you’ll find an informal, well-stocked bar. Individual tables are also set up outdoors, weather permitting, and the camp specialises in bush dining, with gourmet breakfasts and picnic lunches served in secluded locations immersed in nature. Following afternoon game drives in your private vehicle, enjoy a chilled sundowner under a shady acacia tree or at a scenic vantage point where you can admire the sunset-streaked sky. For quiet moments, there’s a small reference library at camp, with a selection of reading material for guests to explore.

Guest accommodation at Offbeat Ndoto comprises four well-designed safari tents elevated on local river rock bases, as well as a private 2-bedroom suite ideal for families and small groups. Inside each light-filled canvas tent, you’ll find insect-proof mesh windows for plenty of air flow, a super-king-sized bed with a storage trunk at one end, reading lights, a desk, and a comfy armchair. A canvas partition opens into an indoor lounge, complete with a sink-in sofa and coffee table, where you can curl up with a book or enjoy an early-morning coffee. Every en-suite bathroom is fitted with a flush toilet, double washbasins, and a rain shower with hot water. Outside, your spacious private veranda boasts stunning views of the conservancy, and is furnished with traditional director’s chairs. The Luxury Suite is the camp’s most private accommodation and offers two bedrooms, indoor/outdoor lounges, a fire-pit, a bar chest, and a huge deck where you can dine beneath the stars against the soft glow of storm lanterns.

ACTIVITIES AT OFFBEAT NDOTO:

Activities at Offbeat Ndoto take place within the Mara North Conservancy, and include day and night game drives, bush walks, and Maasai cultural visits.

  • Game drives

    - With approximately 30,000 hectares of savanna, woodlands, and water sources, the Mara North Conservancy boasts a prolific wildlife population, including all of the Big Five (though rhinos are fairly rare). Visit between July and October for sightings of the Great Migration, when hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebra, and antelopes move around the Mara area in search of green pastures
  • Night drives

    - Mara North is a private conservancy, which allows for greater flexibility when it comes to game-viewing activities. Explore the area at night on a spot-lit drive, where you’ll discover the nocturnal world of the genet cat, bush baby, bat-eared fox, and the shy porcupine.
  • Bush walks

    - Walking safaris allow guests to discover the Mara ecosystem on foot, with particular attention given to its birds, insects, reptiles, and unique flora. Escorted by a local Maasai guide, you’ll learn fascinating facts and observe the small details not easily seen from a game drive vehicle.
  • Cultural visits

    - The Maasai are custodians of an ancient culture, which remains intact to this day. Guests are invited to visit a local village to learn about this time-forgotten way of life. You might even be able to visit a school during term time. Please note that there is a $30 per-person fee for this activity.
  • Hot air balloon safaris

    - Hot air balloons launch every morning from Little Governors’ Camp, in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The drive from Ndoto to the camp takes roughly an hour, so guests will have an early, adventurous start to the day. However, the experience of drifting over the Mara’s golden plains is not to be missed, especially as it ends with a delicious gourmet champagne breakfast.
  • Helicopter flights

    - Heli safaris enable visitors to cover huge distances, exploring Kenya’s hidden corners in the company of charismatic expert pilot-guides. Whether a morning or full-day excursion, Kenya is a stunning destination for a helicopter trip, with endlessly varied and dramatic landscapes to explore.
  • Running with the Maasai

    - The Maasai are renowned runners, known for their agility and ability to cover long distances on foot. Active guests will love the opportunity to run in one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations, accompanied by Maasai guides.

* This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals will pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
