"The most affordable option in Lewa and a camp that offers decent standards for the lower price. With access to the same game areas as all other camps, it's a worthy value option."

OVERVIEW:

Previously a cattle ranch, the owners at that time dedicated all their land to the conversation of the local wildlife, particularly rhino. In 2009, Lewa Safari Camp was born, and became the excellent, eco-friendly camp we know today. It is a fantastic camp to stay at if you enjoy a bit of luxury and privacy, with first-rate guiding.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Located in the center of Kenya in the Lewa Conservancy.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT LEWA SAFARI CAMP:

The entire property is fenced, making it ideal for families with younger children. The main areas of the camp have a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, with guests having the options of chilling out on the sofas, going for a dip in the pool, or having a drink at the bar. Table tennis in the outdoor lounge area is great fun for when guests are in between game drives! At dinner time, guests are seated at their own individual tables, giving them some privacy whilst also enabling them to communicate with their fellow guests should they wish.

Lewa Safari Camp boasts 12 en-suite safari tents, two of which are family suites. Each tent is private, with spectacular views. The rooms can either be laid out as doubles, twins, or triples for children under the age of 16. All tents are thatched-roofed and include a bed, a writing desk, en-suite facilities, and a spacious veranda. They have a very homely feel and Lewa Safari Camp has achieved the perfect balance between authenticity and high-quality accommodation and service!

Whether you are being served your breakfast by the pool in the outdoor lounge area, a picnic in the plains themselves, or afternoon tea, you can rest assured that the food, made with fresh ingredients, will be delicious! The camp is also very happy to cater for special dietary requirements, such as gluten-free or vegan.

ACTIVITIES AT LEWA SAFARI CAMP:

There is no lack of activities at Lewa Safari Camp.

  • Game viewing here is particularly good! However, guests also have the option to go on guided walks, including visiting the beautiful Ngare Ndare Forest.
  • As well as this, guests may also make use of the swimming pool and sun loungers, spa treatments, and both camel- and horse riding that are offered at the camp.
  • It is also possible to go on cultural visits to local villages.
  • All of the guides at Lewa Safari are highly skilled, with some having worked within the Conservancy for over fifteen years. And the guides not only have their Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association certification, but they are also trained directly from the Conservancy itself to ensure they meet the ‘Lewa Standard’.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

The customer service at Lewa Safari Camp was the best we have ever had. The staff is personable and fun. Every meal was wonderful. The grounds and rooms are beautiful. Our guide was knowledgeable and we saw the Big 5! We usually change hotels every time we travel to experience new things but this is a spot we have to return to!

Lewa is a must visit location in Africa and you can't go wrong with this camp! A beautiful tent which looked like a room in a 5 star hotel. Impeccable service. The dining tent is so comfortable and this is the only camp that I visited where you had a choice of meals. That is a nice touch. Anne Marie was the manager while I was there, she is so nice and could not have done more for me. This camp also has a beautiful pool, too bad it was to chilly for the pool but the weather was perfect for safari. Daniel was my driver for game drives. If you visit this camp ask for Daniel. His knowledge blew me away. His ability to find lions sleeping under bushes was uncanny! Really a great experience.

Amazing all around! It was the perfect start to our safari. Moses and the entire team were very welcoming, warm and friendly. The accommodation was beautiful -- absolutely loved my veranda and the view! The food was delicious -- loved the coffee and cookies for the early morning wake up. My favorite thing about my stay at Lewa Safari Camp was our guide Mischek. His infectious laughter and outstanding knowledge of the Lewa Conservancy made the overall experience outstanding! He is simply the best, and we were very sad to leave!

Moses and the staff made us feel right at home. Our guide, Misheck, was absolutely fantastic. The dwellings are large, posh tents, with a fantastic view. We loved it there!

This was the first safari camp I ever experienced, so when I was warmly greeting by the managers, Sasha and Tamlyn, camp organizer, Doreen, and a lovely lady with fragrant moist towels for my hands and face, I felt like royalty! Doreen was very thorough and gracious with the orientation she provided me for camp activities and schedules. This beautiful camp's bird life is extraordinary! The were all right there at the pool as we had our lunch. The tent accommodation was splendid, It has a very nice deck on the front from which I could view the elephants and giraffe in my front yard. It was so quiet, I could not believe it. They had a masseuse on the premises, so I took advantage of that before I became too sore from lugging my camera around. Every step of the way I felt pampered from morning where I had a wake up call by my stewardess with coffee and cookies to meeting up with my bed at the end of all the activities with a hot water bottle between my sheets. What topped everything off was the warmth and gentleness of the managers, Sasha and Tamlyn. My safari guide, Festus, was completely accommodating. He personalized the entire safari to my preferences and was quite enlightening with his knowledge of the flora and fauna of the area. His driving was superb and his generosity was touching. They all really enjoy what they do and are truly professional and caring. I would highly recommend at stay at Lewa Safari Camp for an above and beyond pampering experience

Another excellent camp. The food was superb, as were the game drives. Especially nice, was seeing animals that are not found in the Serengeti and Maasai Mara. We would highly recommend this property.

Experience the vastness of Africa. A very comfortable camp with excellent guides. Learn about the efforts to stabilize the black and white rhino populations and see the results. Amazing variety of birds around the lodge -- just to sit with a cold Tusker or cup of tea and watch was fascinating.
