This camp is only a five-minute drive from the descent road to the crater, so guests are able to enter the crater at the crack of dawn before anyone else.

Lemala Ngorongoro is a luxury tented camp on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the best places for game-viewing in the world.

Located on the quieter side of the Crater rim and a short drive past the Lemala Gate, Lemala Ngorongoro is set amongst a grove of acacia trees in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

The camp sits in the shade of mature acacia trees and looks back towards the Ngorongoro Hills. Each of its eight spacious canvas tents have a wooden floor and a private bathroom with a flush toilet, shower and running water. The central area is beautifully furnished with comfortable sofas, wooden chests, lamps, books, cushions and rugs. Meals are taken in the inside dining area or alfresco under the stars.

The great advantage of Lemala Ngorongoro is its location so close to the descent road into the Crater. This enables guests to be some of the first to enter at the crack of dawn, and also to reach areas that very few others are able to visit. The camp is also a good option for guests who would rather avoid larger hotels like most of those on the crater rim. However, it is not suitable for visits in May and June as the temperatures are often close to freezing!

"Get up early here and you are rewarded with the quietest access road into the back of Ngorongoro. The best tented camp on the Crater rim by far!"
