"In common with its sister properties, staying here allows guests access to the Ongava Private Reserve, where you can track white rhino on foot!"

OVERVIEW:

Located on the top of a small kopje, Ongava Lodge was the first luxury lodge in Etosha. Today, various lodges have eclipsed Ongava Lodge’s comfort levels, but this lodge still offers good value for a high quality product.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The Ongava Game Reserve is adjacent to the national park, so guests have the option of game driving in the busier Etosha National Park, or spending time in the privacy of the Ongava Reserve.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT ONGAVA LODGE:

The 14 rooms at Ongava are made of stone and thatch, are each very spacious and have their own private balconies looking down to the watering hole below. Some have restricted views so it's best to book early to avoid disappointment.

ACTIVITIES AT ONGAVA LODGE:

  • Ongava is usually used for fly-in safaris, however self drives are welcome here, with Ongava offering some of the most luxurious accommodation for self drivers. The service on offer here is always impressive.
  • Ongava itself is primarily a rhino reserve, with the three camps here offering some of the best and potentially up-close rhino viewing anywhere in Africa.
  • Walking safaris are encouraged.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
