When To Visit Okavango Delta:

Re-launched in April 2018, Camp Moremi offers sumptuous accommodation and classic safari activities within the wildlife-rich Moremi Game Reserve! Children aged 6 years and older are welcome.

OVERVIEW:
Camp Moremi is owned and operated by Desert & Delta Safaris, a company with an impressive portfolio featuring properties across Botswana and Namibia! The camp reopened in April 2018 following a complete rebuild. Guest accommodation is booked on a full-board basis, including all meals, a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, all scheduled safari activities, and a full laundry service.

ACCESS & LOCATION:
The camp is situated on the edge of Xakanaxa Lagoon, an area famed for its big game! Moremi is usually accessed via light-aircraft flight from Maun (25 minutes) or Kasane (1 hour), followed by 25 minutes’ road transfer, enjoyed as a brief game drive. The site includes well-kept lawns in the shade of riverine trees such as jackalberry and leadwood. There are lovely views from camp!

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
Guests are accommodated in 12 thatched safari tents, including a two-bedroom double tent that’s suitable for family use. Each tent contains a double bed or twin beds, a writing desk and chair, a separate seating area, and ample storage furniture. All lighting and décor has been specially selected to harmonise with the natural surroundings and to create a peaceful ambience. The palette is neutrals and earth tones, with a few splashes of mid-blue. En-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, twin washbasins, and walk-in shower. A hairdryer is available, and additional amenities include a fan, a tea-and-coffee station, a safe, a flashlight, and an umbrella for rainy days. Doors lead out onto a private deck, where you can relax and enjoy amazing vistas over the lagoon! The family tent’s two bedrooms are connected through an interleading door, and both bedrooms benefit from an en-suite shower room. Every en suite comes with free toiletries.

Camp Moremi’s communal spaces are also designed to blend beautifully with the landscape around the lagoon. Again, neutrals, earth tones, and mid-blue splashes are used here. The lounge features plenty of comfortable seating around coffee tables, and it merges with a spacious library and viewing deck. The dining area is raised, and set with chic separate tables and chairs. Here, guests tuck in to delicious continental breakfasts, brunches, and dinners – afternoon tea is usually served on the deck. A boardwalk from all these spaces leads to the camp’s fire-pit – this is the perfect place to get to know your fellow travellers and swap safari stories! There’s an open-air boma too, and a swimming pool in a secluded area. And staff members are happy to arrange private dining in a range of romantic locations around the site.

ACTIVITIES:
The camp offers classic game drives, boat safaris, and birdwatching. Drives are available during mornings and afternoons – they’re a wonderful opportunity to explore the Moremi Game Reserve’s various ecosystems and all the resident wildlife! You can look out for all of the Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. Smaller predators include cheetah, hyenas, jackals, and wild dog, while the herbivore count features giraffe, blue wildebeest, zebra, impala, kudu, reedbuck, waterbuck, and lechwe. Boat safaris are highly recommended for travellers hoping for sightings of the reserve’s hippopotamus, crocodile, and maybe even baboons hanging out in the riverine woodland! And whether you’re on land or water, you can expect to see oodles of birdlife – specials include fish eagle, crested crane, malachite kingfisher, and a YZ favourite, Pel’s fishing owl.

"Camp Moremi's recent refurbishment means it is now the most luxurious lodge in this part of the Moremi. Game viewing here is undeniably good and this property competes with the likes of Xakanaxa or Camp Okuti for best camp in the area."
