The Safari Collection
Our Safari Partners
The Safari Collection is run by true Kenya experts who are able to deliver all manner of countrywide experiences.
Established by Tanya and Mikey Carr-Hartley in 2009, The Safari Collection is a Kenya-based company representing six camps and lodges in Nairobi, the Maasai Mara, Samburu, and Laikipia. The most famous property is Giraffe Manor in Nairobi, instantly recognisable for the giraffes that delight guests by poking their necks through the windows. The Safari Collection properties are some of the most high end in Kenya. Their locations are all quite different, so combining several camps and lodges works well. The company is proud of being a sustainable business, committed to reducing emissions and the use of energy. Its charitable arm, The Footprint Trust, supports several conservation, health, and education projects across Kenya.

Well known on the safari circuit, Tanya and Mikey Carr-Hartley are Kenyans whose knowledge of the country runs deep. Their passion for Kenya filters through to the guest experience, and together they are one of our most trusted regional partners. Each of the Safari Collection camps and lodges has its own unique character, but all stand for quality accommodation and high service levels. Giraffe Manor is the oldest in the collection, and it remains the flagship property to this day.
The company also arranges niche interest experiences, including fossil hunting, photographic safaris, flamingo-focused heli-safaris, and yoga itineraries. It has a philanthropic foundation in the form of the Footprint Trust, through which it champions a wide range of conservation and community outreach projects. There’s also something called a ‘Menu of Giving’, which encourages guests to make a donation to a community and/or conservation initiative such as giving the gift of sight, sponsoring a child’s school lunches for a year, tree planting on Mount Kenya, and donating to Ewaso Lions or the Grevy’s Zebra Project. The company’s green credentials include carbon reduction and reforesting schemes, using only natural, biodegradable products, shopping locally, and growing their own produce where possible.
