Dorp is an eclectically styled hotel set high on Signal Hill above Cape Town’s historic Bo-Kaap neighbourhood. Overlooking the city with stunning views towards Table Mountain, the property blends classic architecture with plant-filled gardens, courtyards, and home-style interiors detailed with wood-burning fireplaces, floral prints, and books. Guests can dine in the Salon, which serves home-style cuisine, or make use of the on-site gym, sauna, and massage treatment room, all within close proximity to Cape Town’s buzzy city centre.

Our Yellow Zebra Opinion
  • Comfort with character
One of my favourite, quirky hotels in Cape Town with buckets of personality and charm. Though note that does extend to the service too – it’s a bit hit and miss!

  • Colourful Bo-Kaap is the centre of Cape Town’s Cape Malay and Muslim heritage, dating back to the 1760s. Dorp can arrange walking tours led by local residents for genuine personal perspectives, and you can visit the Iziko Bo‐Kaap Museum for essential historic context. Also make a stop at the legendary Atlas Trading Co for fragrant spices like cardamom, cumin, and clove.

Characterised by gardens full of birdsong, shaded patios, and hidden courtyards, it’s hard to believe the city centre is just a stone’s throw away. Home-style meals are enjoyed in the cosy Salon, a space filled with books, plants, mismatched furniture, and a wood-burning fireplace for cooler evenings, with arched windows showcasing panoramic views of Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak. Dorp’s roof terrace offers stunning views over the city. During select months, guests can also dine at Palm Café from midday onwards for light bites and small plates. The hotel also has an outdoor plunge pool, a fully equipped gym for cardio, strength, and flexibility training, plus a sauna and a treatment room for massages and therapies. Lastly, Dorp’s in-house boutique offers a curated selection of clothing, crafts, and mementoes.
