OVERVIEW:
This Victorian-and-Georgian building was lovingly restored from 2003, and finally all the rooms were finished in October 2011. The finished product is a sophisticated and comfortable 5-star country house. It is run by Wander and Sonette Bester, who ensure that the best service is delivered to all guests.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Bonnievale and Robertson are just 40 minutes from Swellendam and are great areas for wine tasting, with Weltevrede, Springfield and Graham Beck wine estates to name a few.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT SHOONE OORDT:
There are just two standard rooms here, located on the top floor. Personally we prefer the luxury rooms as they come with private patios – in this beautiful setting, it would be a shame not to have the option of enjoying your own outdoor space. There is also a family room. This has a loft area with two single beds to sleep two children. The family unit has a small kitchenette too. If you are looking for romantic seclusion, the honeymoon suite is perfectly tucked away at the edge of the property.
The Conservatory restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, always aiming to use the best organic and local produce. Wander is the chef – and he is well on his way to making this into one of the finest restaurants in the area.
ACTIVITIES AT SHOONE OORDT:
There is everything from art and culture to horse riding and quad biking in and around Swellendam itself, so you can keep as busy as you like.
