OVERVIEW:
If you are looking for luxurious accommodation in Hermanus, Abalone Guest Lodge is an outstanding option. The Lodge occupies a commanding position on the top of cliffs close to Siever’s Point, just one-and-a-half hours’ drive from Cape Town.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Abalone Guest House is situated on Siever’s Point. This is a popular spot for whale watching, between the vibrant town of Hermanus and some of the best beaches in the region!
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT ABALONE GUEST HOUSE:
Abalone has a contemporary style, providing an interesting contrast with some of the surrounding buildings. The communal spaces include a lounge with plenty of comfortable seating and a cosy fireplace. There is also a country-style breakfast room, which, with its superb views out to Walker Bay, is a lovely location to begin each day! Breakfast is available on the terrace too, when the weather allows this. Abalone is set in very well kept gardens, featuring tidy pathways and herb wheels. The swimming pool also boasts stunning vistas out to sea, as well as a few sunloungers where you can relax and enjoy the scenery. Finally, the property’s wellness centre is perfect for a little R&R – here you will find not only a treatment room and a fully equipped gym, but also a sauna and a nail bar!
Guest accommodation at Abalone consists of 12 rooms, each individually decorated and featuring South African art. Every room has a wrought iron bed, satellite television, a tea-and-coffee station, underfloor heating, and snug heated towel rails! The en-suite facilities are very well appointed, with bath as well as separate shower. Room 1 is the Honeymoon Suite, with a romantic four-poster bed, a big bath, and a balcony where newlyweds can sit together and admire the views. Rooms 2–5 are Seafacing Suites, very spacious and also benefiting from a balcony apiece. Numbers 6 and 7 are Luxury Sea View rooms, while 8 and 9 are termed Luxury Garden View. Room 10 is Standard – it is smaller than the suites and has an outside seating area rather than a proper balcony. Numbers 11 and 12, Standard Interleading Rooms, are smaller too – and 12 is not ideal for light sleepers, as its side position within the building tends to result in guests hearing noise from the road outside. However, all options are certainly comfortable.
