Kapamba’s décor has a slight Moroccan touch to it and the accommodation comprises a more permanent structure than any of the other bush camps. One of the highlights here has to be the sunken bath – this makes for a relaxing warm soak in the cooler months, but it transforms into a plunge pool during hotter times.

  • One of the highlights of staying at Kapamba is walking across the river in front of the lodge – and sometimes they even serve sundowners in the river.

  • The downside to the lodge is that there is usually only one guide in camp, so if there is a full camp then you will most likely be on an activity with eight guests.

  • Additionally, there is very little flexibility with activities unless the whole group agrees. A normal day will include a morning walk and an afternoon/evening game drive.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

Half of the area is covered with comfortable built-in sofas and a large dining table for lunches and dinners if the weather is not ideal. Breakfast and dinner are usually taken at the front of the main area, which is open to the stars and boasts an amazing view of the Kapamba River. There is also a comfortable sitting space, where guests spend their time between game drives looking out for animals coming down to the water.
