The property is very good for families looking for good value hotel style accommodation. Our only negative is that the property caters towards the upper-level packaged safari industry – something that we as a company try to improve on.

With one of the best locations in the entire park, this somewhat commercial large hotel offers great game viewing all year round. An especially good option for families and clients wanting to avoid tented camps.

"Safer" safari

  • This is a large lodge in a very busy area, so is not the place to choose if you want an authentic safari experience. However, it, like the other Serena hotels, is a reliably good option for clients with children who are looking for a “safer” safari. It is best booked as part of a Serena hotel circuit in order to get lower rates.

Serena’s Serengeti Safari Lodge has a superb location in the heart of Serengeti National Park. It is part of the Serena hotel chain which gives reliable accommodation in a great area for game.

This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

The lodge is attractively situated on a ridge with sweeping views of the Serengeti plains.

It is designed like a traditional Masai village, with 66 circular rondavel “huts” made out of stone with thatched roofs. They are well-appointed with natural stone bathrooms and private decks outside where guests can sit and look out for game. An infinity pool overlooks the grasslands below.
