Although it has lost some of its navigational significance due to modern position systems, the tower is still in working order. It is used by local seafarers and will remain a landmark of Walvis Bay for the foreseeable future. Pelican Point Lodge boasts a very remote location – but this is not for everyone. The property is very exposed to the elements and the area is known for strong winds and heavy fog – additionally, the industrial backdrop can be off-putting. We recommend the lodge to those seeking to get away from the crowds of Swakopmund to explore the dramatic coastline and its marine wildlife!

Our Yellow Zebra Opinion
  • Unique, but not for all
Perched at the edge of Pelican Point, this lodge is quirky in design and boasts breathtaking panoramic vistas over the Atlantic Ocean. It is a perfect fit for adventurers who want to discover the unpredictability of this volatile coastline. It’s worth noting that the lodge is highly exposed to the elements but excellent for marine life, with a Cape fur seal colony nearby.

The deck boasts incredible views out over the Atlantic Ocean and the desert dunes. Having been renovated from the old harbor control building, the lodge has plenty of quirks that add to its character!

The nine suites are similarly quirky. The most impressive of these is the Captain’s Cove, which offers 360° panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, whilst the Lighthouse Suite offers guests the unique opportunity to stay in a lighthouse! Each room, individually decorated, has a private deck for guests to enjoy watching the antics of the marine life.
