An exhilarating range of activities is available from Baines’. Some are dependent on the water levels around camp; these are indicated with an asterisk in the list below. Please note, the minimum age requirement for walks is 16 years, and for mokoro rides 12 years.

the private concession in which the camp is set is shared with just one other property ( Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp ). The area is made up of plains, woodlands, and water sources, and it’s home to a real wealth of wildlife! Drives are possible during morning, afternoon, and night. You can look out for four of the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – in addition to numerous smaller predators and herbivores. And there are lots of vibrant birds!
this activity is also enjoyed in the presence of a knowledgeable and experienced guide. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to scrutinize the smaller lives of the concession, such as the plants and insects. You can track some big game too!
viewing the wildlife of the waters from aboard a mokoro, a dug-out canoe, is highly recommended. As the mokoro doesn’t have a motor, you’ll have close encounters with mammals, reptiles, and birds. From fish eagles to crocodiles, the concession has a lot to admire.
these flights are designed to showcase the permanent delta, the regions that are inaccessible via any other means of transport. Various flight times are offered and you can even ride with the doors removed, for fantastic photo opportunities!

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

The communal buildings at Baines’ Camp are accessed from the guest suites along elevated wooden walkways.
Surrounded by papyrus beds, these attractive main structures have been constructed using timber and thatch. The lounge has sumptuous seating around coffee tables, in addition to a small library. In the dining area, chic tables-and-chairs are set out in readiness for the camp’s delicious meals. Guests can dine on the deck too. Both lounge and dining areas are partly open-sided, boasting beautiful views across the Boro river, but the deck is the place to enjoy the widest vistas. Baines’ fire-pit is positioned right at the front of the deck and it features a number of seats fashioned from local timber. It’s another great venue for dining, as well as gathering with fellow travellers and swapping safari stories. And the camp also has an infinity pool, approached from the main buildings along one more raised wooden walkway. On the pool platform, you’ll find a row of sunloungers as well as two little salas shading additional seating. There are breathtaking views!

There are five guest suites, spaced along the edge of the lagoon.
All feature walls made out of elephant-dung plaster and recycled aluminum cans, as well as a more traditional thatched roof. A single door leads into the bedroom, where you’ll find a four-poster double bed, a seating area, a painting by Baines displayed on an easel, and even some art materials for your own use. Additional amenities include a ceiling fan, mosquito nets, a mini-bar, and a hairdryer. Behind the bed, there’s a wardrobe, a sideboard with charging points, and a luggage rack. The en-suite washroom is approached via a short corridor, and it contains separate flush toilet, twin washbasins with mirrors over, and shower. Wide doors from the bedroom lead out onto a private deck with a table and a couple of chairs. This deck is sufficiently large for your four-poster bed to be wheeled out onto it at night-time, providing the opportunity to sleep under the stars! You can also take a bath on the deck, all the while marvelling at views across the lagoon, which is popular with elephant and hippo.
