Fishing and Boating on Lake Kariba

Lake Kariba is famous for its superb tiger fishing. Known for their speed, power, and acrobatic leaps, tigerfish are one of Africa’s most exciting freshwater species to catch, and the lake is considered one of the best places in the world to fish for them. The prime season typically runs from September to April, though fishing can be productive year-round.

In addition to tigerfish, anglers can also try their luck with bream, vundu (a type of African catfish), and tilapia. Most fishing is done from boats, either through catch-and-release sport fishing or on relaxed sundowner sessions on the lake’s glassy waters, surrounded by drowned forests and distant hills.
