Access & Location
Somalisa Acacia is situated within the same ‘acacia island’ of east Hwange National Park.
Sister camp of Somalisa, also in the eastern region of Hwange
Lounge and dining area, plunge pool

Four luxury tents with en-suite facilities
Excellent game drives, walking safari, birdwatching

Due to its location close to the Kennedy Vlei, Somalisa Acacia is able to provide exceptionally good games drives and walking safari. The rolling pans are home to all Big Five animals (though please note it is very rare to see rhino), plus antelope, sable, kudu, hyena. After the first rains, the vlei blossoms into an exuberant display of colourful wildflowers! The birdlife is also impressive here.

Additionally, the camp has its own waterhole, frequented by elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra – so sometimes it is not necessary to leave camp to view wildlife!

The camp has specialist family guides ensuring that safari activities and time in camp is as enjoyable for the youngsters as it is for adults. Somalisa Acacia is also owned by first-rate Africa safari guide Beks Ndlovu and his wife Sophia. As at Somalisa, the passion of Beks and Sophia for authentic safari is well realised at Somalisa Acacia through great guiding and camp design.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

The main tent at Somalisa Acacia houses a comfortable seating and dining area, with breathtaking views of Kennedy Vlei, or Massumamalisa, an old dried-up watercourse popular with huge herds of elephant.
As at Somalisa, the local elephants are very much at home here and often come to camp to drink at the “elephant pool”! In front of the main tent there is a campfire area, ideal for sitting around and sharing stories with fellow guests.
Somalisa Acacia’s guest accommodation consists of four comfortable luxury sail tents – two twins and two family units.
The family accommodation comprises two interleading en-suite bedrooms. The tents are connected to the main area via wooden walkways and are themselves elevated above ground level with decks overlooking the surrounding bush. All floors are varnished teak, supporting canvas walls and roof. Furnishings include easy chairs, sofa and dark teak writing desks, while the en-suite facilities provide a copper slipper bath, double vanity, indoor and outdoor running water showers, and flush toilet.
