Game drives and morning walks

Activities at Serian’s Kimya Kimya take place in the Mara North Conservancy and include game drives and early morning walks.
You’ll have your own open-sided safari vehicle, complete with an expert guide for total flexibility and no fixed schedule. The guiding teams are deeply connected to this landscape and will unveil the most unique details of the bush, no matter how small. Perhaps you’ll encounter a lion pride on the hunt, watch an elephant herd crossing the river, or learn how the life cycle of a single creature changes with the seasons. No two days on safari are ever the same, and you’ll uncover something entirely new on every drive.

Walking safaris take you off the beaten track, providing a connection with the land that feels profoundly different from what you experience in a game drive vehicle. This is a chance to appreciate every subtle detail of the ecosystem and the role it plays in the bigger picture. Walks are best enjoyed early in the morning before the heat of the day sets in. Your expert guide will slow the pace down to point out the hidden wonders of the bush, from insect kingdoms and traditional uses for indigenous plants to bird calls and tracking wildlife footprints.

In common with the other Serian camps, life at Kimya Kimya is low-key and laidback, with all the creature comforts but no excess. It’s the type of camp where you sit back and relax with a cold beer, tuck into a fireside barbecue, and watch the day’s events unfold on the river.

The living room is a welcoming gathering spot for board games or an afternoon snooze, and by night you’ll sit out by the fire, retracing the day’s sightings. As the camp is booked on an exclusive-use basis, it includes your own private vehicle, expert safari guide, and personal chef, allowing you total freedom to tailor each day exactly to your preferences.
Serian’s Kimya Kimya is an exclusive-use camp for up to six guests, with accommodation in three timber-and-canvas rooms.
The focal point of the camp is a two-storey structure, with a communal dining and lounge area on the ground floor and a suite on the upper level offering stunning views of the Mara River. Outside on the deck, an open-air bush bath provides a front-row seat to life on the river. Two additional tented suites come with viewing decks, and each has an en-suite bathroom with twin basins, a shower, and a flushing toilet, making the setup an ideal layout for families or small groups. True to the Serian ethos, the style is intentionally low-key and simple, allowing the setting to speak loudest. Sit out on your deck as the river rushes by, keeping an eye out for elephants navigating the granite boulders or hippos wallowing in the water.
