Lodo Springs is located in Laikipia’s private Loisaba Conservancy. Guests typically arrive by light aircraft at Loisaba airstrip, an hour’s flight from Nairobi Wilson. The flight is followed by a 15-minute drive to the lodge.

A top-notch lodge – one of my favourites! Beautiful, spacious rooms with incredible views. You can enjoy fabulous day and night game viewing here, as well as a huge range of interesting activities…from horse or camelback safaris to walking with the anti-poaching dogs. In all aspects, Lodo delivers a luxurious and intimate safari experience.

The conservancy covers over 20,000 hectares of sprawling savanna, scrublands, woodlands, and water sources. Among the wildlife highlights here are all Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo! Smaller predators and herbivores in residence include cheetah, hyena, jackal, wild dog, giraffe, zebra, and antelopes. Drives from Lodo Springs take place early in the morning and late in the afternoon, in the company of your knowledgeable and experienced guide.
Also enjoyed in the presence of your guide, this activity involves taking a really close look at some of the smaller features of Loisaba, such as the plants, insects, and birdlife. The conservancy is home to more than 500 bird species, making it a fascinating destination for ornithologists.
This is an exciting opportunity to ride among herds of herbivores. The likes of giraffe and zebra are at ease with safarists on horseback, and Elewana’s horses, in turn, are accustomed to plains game, having been brought up in the bush. However, please note that riding experience is required.
Trek through the bush with camels, and gain insight into this traditional mode of transport in these parts of Kenya.
Loisaba offers several biking trails. Setting off on the saddle is a thrilling way to explore the conservancy’s diverse landscape.
Elewana has a strong background in caring for both the communities and the wildlife in the regions where the company operates camps. Just one example of a cultural experience here is meeting the local anti-poaching team, made up of four sniffer dogs and their human handlers. Guests can learn about the team’s good works and even view an anti-poaching demonstration! *This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

The open-sided main lodge at Loisaba Lodo Springs is an elegant communal space, featuring a comfortable lounge with cushioned sofas – perfect for curling up with a book and taking in the far-reaching views.
High-quality cuisine is served in the dining room, complemented by a well-stocked bar and a fire-pit for social time and storytelling after an action-packed safari day. Outside, the infinity pool invites guests to take a refreshing dip, find shade on the sunloungers, or enjoy a delicious poolside lunch. Soothing massage treatments are available on request and can be enjoyed in the open air, in the privacy of your own suite.

The accommodation at Loisaba Lodo Springs consists of eight spacious, light-filled en-suite rooms, designed with floor-to-ceiling doors and windows.
In keeping with the traditional tented aesthetic, each features a sturdy canvas roof that stretches over the veranda to create a shady sitting area for admiring the views. The interiors are classically styled with polished wood floors, kilims, upcycled antique furniture, and draped curtains. Amenities include an indoor seating area, a writing desk, bedside tables with reading lamps, a mini-bar, and a tea-and-coffee station. Each well-appointed en-suite bathroom features twin basins, a flush toilet, and a large walk-in shower. Outside, each suite boasts an open-air sitting area with a comfortable double daybed, perfect for lounging and gazing out at spectacular panoramas that stretch all the way to Mount Kenya. Finally, each room is assigned a personal Elewana Guest Ambassador to attend to all your requests.
