ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT THE PRIVATE HIDE:

The accommodation is best suited to a maximum of six adults and four children. However, a further two tents can be added for a larger group. The communal area comprises an open-sided wood-and-canvas structure in the shade of acacia trees. This houses a long dining table and chairs in addition to some comfortable cushioned seating, coffee tables and colourful rugs. There are amazing views out across the rippling plains and over a busy waterhole. These views are also visible from the plunge pool and fire pit area.

The tents that make up The Private Hide are numbers 6 and 7 from The Hide. Both are large luxurious family tents with capacity for two adults and two children. The add-on tents are numbers 4 and 5 from The Hide, suited to two adults each. So it is possible to book The Private Hide for a total of eight adults! The tents are made of wood, canvas, and thatch. Inside, they are pleasantly decorated with Zimbabwean teak and patterned soft furnishings. They are mosquito proof, with fans for guests to keep cool. All have en-suite facilities, including indoor bathtub plus indoor and outdoor showers. Hot water is available all day.

ACTIVITIES AT THE PRIVATE HIDE:

The Private Hide has its own guide and vehicle for safari activities.

  • Guests can enjoy game drives during the morning and afternoon – and at night-time too! The eastern region of Hwange National Park is home to loads of wildlife. All Big Five animals are here (though please note it is very rare to see rhino), as well as zebra, giraffe, gemsbok, brown hyena, spotted hyena, and wild dog! Hippo and crocodile inhabit the large dams. At night, leopard, bushpig, genet, civet, and many more come out to play and forage.
  • Another activity on offer is bush walks, presenting the opportunity for guests to get to know the area really well and to have some thrilling close encounters! The region’s hides are also brilliant for observing wildlife and taking photos.
  • And keen birdwatchers are in their element here, as Hwange is home to over 400 species, such as heron, hornbill, and orioles.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
