OVERVIEW:
Nyamatusi Mahogany is owned and run by African Bush Camps. This company offers authentic safaris within some of the wildest reserves and parks across Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Among its successes in Zim alone are Kanga Camp, Bumi Hills Safari Lodge, and the Somalisa properties. TNyamatusi Mahogany is booked on a full-board basis, including all meals, a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, all game activities, national parks fees, transfers between the camp and the local airstrip, and a laundry service. It is possible to book the camp exclusively for a minimum of 12 persons, and in common with sister property Nyamatusi Camp it is open from 1st April to 30th November every year.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
The camp is approached via road transfer from Mana Pools’ airstrip. It is positioned on the banks of the Zambezi river, in the national park’s remote eastern region.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT NYAMATUSI MAHOGANY:
There are four guest suites – two standard suites and two for family use - and they are large canvas tents elevated on wooden decking. Inside, a lower level contains a seating area, and the upper level has a double bed. Twin beds are also available. Within the bedroom, there are mosquito nets, bedside tables and lighting, a writing desk and chair, and storage furniture. Every suite is air-conditioned, and additional amenities include a mini-bar, a tea-and-coffee station, and a safe. The en-suite facilities are behind the bedroom – with twin washbasins, a flush toilet too, as well as an indoor and outdoor shower. Every suite boasts a private plunge pool and beautiful river views!
Nyamatusi Mahogany’s communal lodge is a two-story timber-and-thatch structure, with pleasant lounge and dining areas plus a couple of bars. The palette is quite neutral, and all furnishings have a contemporary flair. On each level of the lodge, there’s a viewing deck – on the lower level, it’s set with chairs and a sofa, perfect for relaxing and watching wildlife! From here, guests will descend a few steps into the fire-pit, an almost complete circle of cushioned seating around the campfire. As with many of the African Bush Camps property, the food and drink are very good and the service standards are sky-high!
