"One of Nehimba's highlights is the fantastic elephant sightings, from camp or from the property's photographic hide. The camp also blends authentic safari feels with a few luxurious touches, making it an ideal base from which to explore the northern Hwange area."

OVERVIEW:

Part of the Imvelo Safari Lodges collection, Nehimba succeeds in its aim to combine luxury living and authentic African charm. The staff are welcoming and friendly, providing a good laundry service and three delicious meals per day. We thoroughly recommend dining under the stars or sitting around campfire with a sundowner and sharing stories!

ACCESS & LOCATION:

It is located in the north of Hwange National Park, within a private concession totalling some 3,200 hectares of game-filled wooded valleys and hills.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT NEHIMBA LODGE:

The communal facilities of Nehimba are situated within a raised and open-fronted teak-and-thatch structure at the centre of camp. They consist of a large lounge and dining area with bar, spreading onto a lower deck from which guests enjoy an excellent view of a waterhole. There is a small swimming pool that is also ideal for watching game.

Nehimba’s guest accommodation comprises nine rooms, spaced in two rows either side of the main building. These too are constructed from teak and thatch, raised above ground. There are two family rooms, a double room with a day bed, two twin rooms, and four doubles of varying sizes. All options include a fan, a safe, facilities for making tea and coffee, en-suite bathroom with slipper bath, outdoor shower, and private balcony overlooking the waterhole. The interiors combine elegance and comfort, with neutral fabrics and warm wood.

ACTIVITIES AT NEHIMBA LODGE:

  • Due to its superb setting within the national park, Nehimba is able to offer exceptionally good game drives and guided walks.
  • All Big Five animals roam Hwange, in addition to over a hundred species of mammal and almost four hundred species of bird! It is not uncommon for guests to spot cheetah, giraffe, zebra, and many types of antelope.
  • Night drives are also available, revealing such wildlife as civet, hyena and porcupine. Nehimba has its own hide, close to the waterhole for great photo opportunities. And guests are encouraged to visit Nehimba Seep, after which the lodge is named, a conservation area that is one of Hwange’s very few year-round water sources.
  • Elephant love it here! Mandavu Dam and Mtoa Ruins make for interesting excursions too.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
