OVERVIEW:
The camp follows the game, setting up in a variety of locations throughout northern Hwange’s mopane woodlands, rocky outcrops and vast open plains. Hwange Mobile Camp is a brilliant option for travellers who enjoy the thrill of moving from place to place and getting back to nature! If you are not a seasoned camper, this is a great introduction to camping as the accommodation is very comfortable. And the guiding is absolutely first rate! Highly recommended by YZ.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Hwange Mobile Camp moves around the game-rich northern region of Hwange National Park.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT HWANGE MOBILE CAMP:
The accommodation comprises either semi-luxury or luxury tents, depending on the camp’s location. Semi-luxury tents are walk-in dome tents measuring 3m by 3m. The main tent is completely open sided, so there are always breathtaking views of the surroundings – and guests are kept warm by the camp fire! When guest accommodation does not include en-suite facilities, toilet facilities are available, comprising one long-drop ash toilet and one bucket shower per every group of four guests.
Each has two single stretcher beds with a bedside table for mosquito repellent and a battery-powered lamp. There are also mosquito nets and a sewn-in ground sheet, with bedpans available for night use. Luxury tents, however, boast en-suite ash toilet, twin washbowls and bucket shower. At 7m by 4m, they are larger than the semi-luxury tents and contain twin beds with full mattresses, luggage racks, a hanging rail and shelving. Finally, each has mosquito netting, plus the same bedside table arrangement as the semi-luxury tents.
ACTIVITIES AT HWANGE MOBILE CAMP:
Activities from Hwange Mobile Camp consist of game drives and walking safaris.
- The northern area of Hwange National Park has much to recommend it as a safari destination – plenty of lion and leopard, huge herds of elephant and buffalo, plus loads of zebra, giraffe, antelope species and wild dog. The large dams in the region are home to hippos and crocodiles – and there are even hides built alongside the water! Rhino are also in residence and one particularly popular activity is tracking black rhino with the camp’s professional tracker.
- Night drives are not permitted, but the quality of guiding makes up for that, whether looking out for the big game or taking time to get to know the area on foot.
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
