When To Visit Mana Pools:

Goliath Safaris is owned by famous guide Stretch Ferreira, and is a semi-permanent camp set along the banks of the Zambezi in Mana Pools.

OVERVIEW:
With a strong focus on walking safaris led by legendary guide and master tracker Stretch Ferreira, Goliath Camp in Mana Pools is without a doubt one of those places that should be considered by any safari-goer visiting Zimbabwe. We recommend Goliath Safaris Tented Camp very highly indeed. For vehicle and walking safari, it is really hard to beat!

ACCESS & LOCATION:
It is situated in the north region of Mana Pools, alongside the spectacular Zambezi River.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
The main area of Goliath consists of a canvas-covered structure, its roof and walls held in place by wooden pillars. This contains a large lounge/bar space, with comfy chairs and a few coffee-table books. Adjacent to this space is the camp’s open-air dining room with its long table, where brunch and dinner are served. The dining room has superb vistas over the Zambezi – and guests may also enjoy river views from seating around the campfire close to the Zambezi’s banks.

Goliath’s guest accommodation comprises just six tented rooms, positioned amid albida and mahogany trees. Like the main area, tents are constructed from canvas and wood. Each includes either twin beds or double bed, mosquito netting, two bedside tables, a wardrobe and storage for luggage. High ceilings and mesh windows make for an airy environment, while ground warmth is provided by a sturdy ground sheet and rugs. All tents have an en-suite bathroom with flush toilet, washbasin and outdoor shower.

ACTIVITIES:
There is a great range of activities at Goliath. Both vehicle and walking safaris are led by Stretch, whose vast experience and broad knowledge of Mana Pools guarantee absolutely first-rate wildlife encounters for guests. In fact, Stretch knows the area so well, that he even recognises individual animals! The park boasts impressive concentrations of elephant and buffalo, in addition to large lion prides, wild dog, zebra, giraffe, monkey, baboon – and over 350 species of bird! The Zambezi River is home to numerous hippo and crocodile, sighted during canoe excursions and fishing trips.

"More than anything, staying at Goliath is all about enjoying the adrenaline-inducing safari experience that only Stretch Ferreira can provide. From coming up close and personal with elephants he has known for years (he has guided and tracked in Mana Pools for the past three decades), avidly tracking a pride of lions, sitting with inquisitive wild dog pups or even just trying to find an elusive Pel’s Fishing Owl that can often be heard hooting in the early evening – quite simply, that is exactly what Goliath Camp is all about."
