Zambia in July

July

July is a very popular month for travel to Zambia, due to near-perfect conditions for both going on safari and visiting Victoria Falls – it’s superb for photography too.

What's the weather going to be like in Zambia in July?

  • Days are warm and nights can be cold
  • July is well into dry season, and often there’s no rain
  • Day temperatures remain pleasant throughout July
  • We advise bringing warm clothes for the evenings.

What are the highlights of visiting Zambia in July?

  • All camps are open in all national parks
  • The land is drying out, so wildlife is easier to spot
  • There is virtually no rain, so there are very few mosquitoes
  • Cooler days increase the likelihood of seeing big cats roaming through the parks
  • Game viewing in the South Luangwa National Park is at its best, and walking safaris are particularly good due to comfortable temperatures
  • July is one of the best times to see Victoria Falls, as the spray is modest and doesn’t block the view
  • Water levels at Victoria Falls are low enough for white water rafting and visits to Devil’s Pool
  • It’s an excellent time for river cruises and fishing on the Lower Zambezi
  • Clear conditions make for an amazing month for photography.

Any lowlights?

  • July is the start of the tourist season, so parks and properties are getting busier
  • Rates are on the rise
  • Water levels at Victoria Falls are low, and the flow is not as impressive.
