"Famous for elephants in the reception, Mfuwe is a great place to start your safari in South Luangwa."

OVERVIEW:

Although you cannot ignore the fact that Mfuwe Lodge is a large hotel in the bush, it works perfectly as the start or finish of a safari in the South Luangwa. If you are at the lodge during October and/or November, you will have the chance of seeing elephants crossing right through the reception area.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The lodge is open all year round, as it is in the central Mfuwe area and the park can be accessed at all times of the year here.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT MFUWE LODGE:

The lodge has 18 chalets, including three family rooms and two suites. Each has its own private deck area overlooking the lagoons. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, with en-suite bathrooms featuring large showers.

Mfuwe’s main areas include a large open-fronted restaurant and bar area, looking out to the extensive deck and swimming pool. All of this overlooks the two lagoons, which are in front of the lodge. If you have forgotten to bring a book or have finished your holiday reading, there is a small library with a private deck.

ACTIVITIES AT MFUWE LODGE:

  • Scheduled activities from the lodge include morning and afternoon game drives.
  • Additional activities comprise highly recommended guided bush walks, in addition to local village and school visits.
  • The bush spa offers all sorts of treatments, from full-body stress-relief massages to reflexology to rehydrating wraps. This is the perfect place to be between safaris.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
