"Chamilandu sits on the bank of the Luangwa River and is famous for its local leopard. A really special camp."

OVERVIEW:

The lodge is open from June to October. It is part of the Bushcamps Company and is usually booked in conjunction with one or more of the other camps in the portfolio.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Set in the remote southern region of South Luangwa National Park, Chamilandu is just a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Mfuwe Lodge, which is the main headquarters.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT CHAMILANDU BUSH CAMP:

All the rooms are open fronted, to make the most of the stunning views over the river. Each room has a private viewing deck, where most guests spend their afternoons relaxing between safari activities and meals. The en-suite bathrooms are open aired and offer amazing vistas of the Luangwa River, making sure you never miss a thing.

The main area of camp is simple yet comfortable, with chairs, a dining area and a bush bar. The camp needs minimal décor, as the views of the Luangwa River are so impressive. The sand floor adds to the relaxed charm of the lodge.

ACTIVITIES AT CHAMILANDU BUSH CAMP:

  • Chamilandu is a traditional walking camp that also offers morning and afternoon game drives and is beautifully positioned on the banks of the Luangwa River.
  • Walking safaris and game drives are available from camp. If you like to walk between different lodges, you can walk to Chindeni from Chamilandu – this may be one of the longest drives, but it is well worth the effort.
  • There is a hide that overlooks one of the many lagoons at the camp – this is the perfect place to relax over lunch or throughout the afternoon.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
