OVERVIEW:
Bilimungwe is a classic Luangwa bushcamp – a very good option for a Luanga safari. If we are very specific, the camp arguably caters more than other Luangwa bushcamps for the less adventurous traveller. Bilimungwe has the feeling of a lodge more than a rustic bushcamp – this is surprising, as it is such a small property. It is a great option nonetheless.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Located in the southern section of the South Luangwa, the Bushcamp Company’s Bilimungwe Camp is set alongside the main river with the rooms looking over a separate watering hole.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT BILIMUNGWE BUSH CAMP:
Bilimungwe looks out over the Luangwa River itself, a fantastic location to see the sunrise. All four closed thatched rooms are raised off the ground on wooden decks to give guests the best views of the main watering hole. Each room has doors that open fully to give visitors an unobstructed view from their mosquito-net-draped four-poster beds! Each has an indoor and outdoor seating area.
ACTIVITIES AT BILIMUNGWE BUSH CAMP:
- The bushcamp offers walking and vehicle safaris to explore the area.
- Many guests like to combine Bilimungwe with its sister properties and frequently walk between the camps. As with virtually all Luangwa camps, guiding here is superb.
- Award-winning guide Manda Chisanga is based at Bilimungwe and he is often the focus of the camp.
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
