Set up on the banks of the Ngwenya channel, Amanzi Camp provides a thrilling variety of things to do in the Lower Zambezi National Park. In common with sister camp Anabezi, children aged 12 years and over are welcome here, and those aged 8–11 might be accepted too. Kids aged under 12 are not permitted on walks or canoe trips, as per N.P. rules.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Amanzi Camp is located in the eastern region of the Lower Zambezi National Park. It can be accessed via 40-minutes light-aircraft flight from Lusaka. A camp guide will meet you at the airstrip, providing a game drive transfer into camp for the last part of your journey!
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT AMANZI CAMP:
Each of Amanzi’s four guest tents is set up on an elevated wooden deck, so you can enjoy amazing views of the channel and all its wildlife! Two tents can be connected, to create a family or group unit. The tents are made out of wood and canvas, with reed back walls and large gauze front windows. Room features include either a king-size bed or two double beds, bedside tables and lighting, a pleasant seating area, a tea-and-coffee station, and a mini-bar. The en-suite facilities comprise separate flush toilet, big washbasin with mirror over, shower, and vanity unit. This area has a safe too, and plenty of storage space for clothes and other belongings. Additionally, there are complimentary toiletries, as well as bathrobes, slippers, and a laundry basket. The style throughout every tent is understated safari chic, featuring dark wood and a natural palette.
Wooden walkways lead from the guest tents to the communal lodge, which is also raised above ground level. It’s made from wood, canvas, and reeds too, and it’s almost entirely open sided. The lounge area contains well-cushioned wicker seating and comfy pouffes around a coffee table, while the dining area benefits from elegant tables and chairs. The bar occupies this space too. A few steps down from the lodge deck, there’s a lower deck incorporating a swimming pool complete with relaxing sunloungers! Finally, at the lowest level, there’s a smashing little fire-pit, perfect for social gatherings.
