Your budget lets you cherry-pick from the best. Lemala Mara and KasKaz are the first properties I’ll suggest as entrance properties for this price bracket; the first of the Serengeti’s luxurious mobile camps. Good locations and excellent guiding for the price make either a great choice for luxury at a fair price. My personal preference is Lemala Mara due to how close it is to the river...but Kaskaz is the more luxurious property.
Serengeti Safari Camp, however, is the next place I’ll mention – the first ever mobile and arguably the best of the mobile camps. Nomad Tanzania run this camp – a company known for owning some of the finest authentic product in Africa. The guiding here is superb whilst a high quality, authentic experience is the companies focus. I cannot speak of them highly enough – think adventurous nights under canvas and chats with your guides around camp fires under the stars. That’s what safari is all about !.
The final tented camp I’m going to suggest to you is Alex Walker’s Serian Serengeti. Alex is one of Africa’s most famous guides and his camps Serian Lamai and Serian Serengeti North are nothing short of exceptional. The big difference here is the fact that Alex offers private vehicles as standard throughout his camps. Usually costing approximately $300pppn more than Serengeti Safari Camp there is a four for three offer at the time of year you are travelling...making an expensive property very good value for money. Private vehicles are guaranteed as is some of the best food and guiding in the country. Alex often hosts in camp (usually Lamai), a rarity in itself, and has a team of guides that have won a number of industry awards.
Finally comes Lemala’s Kuria Hills, a wonderful lodge where private pools come as standard and the hospitality experience rivals the safari experience itself. A great camp for clients looking to avoid the adventurous style of the tented camps I’ve mentioned...but an expensive option overall.
