The first property I’ll pick out is Kiota Camp; the choice for our most economical trips. This adventurous little camp offers great value for money and bags of character. It’s simple approach to safari still sees spacious rooms and en-suites; a level of comfort that surprises most travellers.
A slight step up in price and you have a couple of camps offering reduced rates from their high season prices. Asanja’s Asanja Serengeti is a slightly more polished property than Kiota - well worth a look - where as Nasikia’s Naona Moru is one of our favourite properties at this price bracket. Naona Competes hard with Lemala’s Ewanjan, another excellent location for this time of year. The value you get at these properties compared to high season rates is very good indeed.
If you could splash out slightly then the stand out option is Asilia Safaris Dunia Camp. Known as one of the best camps in the central plains Asilia themselves are one of the best operators in East Africa. They have incredibly good low season rates that combine well with their Ngorongoro Crater camp ‘the Highlands’ for an unbelievably good value stay at this time of year.
Asilia's other property in the Eastern Serengeti - Namiri Plains - is also very good at this time of year but can run the risk of fewer migratory herds. Asilia work on the basis of a 'tiered' pricing system whereby less busy days offer better value...so rates can change day by day
