The stand out option for value at this time of year is Asilia Safaris Dunia Camp. Known as one of the best camps in the central plains Asilia themselves are also regarded as one of the best operators in East Africa. They have incredibly good low season rates that combine well with their Ngorongoro Crater camp ‘the Highlands’ for an unbelievably good value stay at this time of year.
As mentioned in the Value bracket, Asilia's other property in the Eastern Serengeti - Namiri Plains - is also very good at this time of year but can run the risk of fewer migratory herds. Asilia work on the basis of a 'tiered' pricing system whereby less busy days offer better value...so rates can change day by day.
Stepping up in cost slightly and Serengeti Safari Camp is the next place I’ll mention – the first ever mobile and arguably the very best of the mobile camps. Nomad Tanzania run this camp – a company known for owning some of the finest authentic product in Africa. The guiding here is superb whilst a high quality, authentic experience is the companies focus. I cannot speak of them highly enough – think adventurous nights under canvas and chats with your guides around camp fires under the stars. That’s what safari is all about ! Offering four for three throughout the year and low season rates in the first place, the value on offer is very good indeed.
If you are looking for a more luxurious camp then there are two options to consider – Lemala’s new Nanyukie is the smartest and newest property around where as Elewana’s Pioneer Camp is one of the most established luxury property in the central plains.
