OVERVIEW:

Old Drift Lodge is owned and run by husband-and-wife Brad and Annie White. Between them, they have nine years’ experience in the hospitality tourism industry, and they’re supported at the lodge by a first-class team. Accommodation is booked on a full-board basis, including all meals, a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, in-suite mini-bar, all safari activities, guided tours of the Falls, shuttles between the lodge and Victoria Falls town, transfers between the lodge and Victoria Falls Airport, and a laundry service. The lodge is open all year round.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The lodge’s jetty is accessed via 35 minutes’ road transfer from Victoria Falls Airport, and the boat journey takes 10–15 minutes. Old Drift has a spectacular location on the banks of the River Zambezi, within Zambezi National Park.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT OLD DRIFT LODGE:

Guest accommodation consists of ten double suites and four family suites, spaced along the riverbanks. Each occupies a chalet-type structure with canvas walls, positioned above ground level on timber decking to maximize your views over the river. Inside, the suites feel very spacious, due to the high ceilings and pale color of the canvas. Every double unit features a four-poster king-size bed or twin beds with mosquito netting, a writing desk and chair, and a separate seating area with two easy chairs and a coffee table. Additional amenities include an overhead fan, a tea-and-coffee station, and a mini-bar. On one side of the suite, a canvas door slides open into a generously proportioned washroom, which offers separate flush toilet, twin washbasins, and a step-up shower. Dressing gowns, slippers, a hairdryer, and toiletries are all supplied. There’s an outside shower too, and a freestanding bath with canvas curtains on the private deck! The deck also boasts a plunge pool, where you can enjoy a refreshing dip while admiring views of the river and its wildlife. The four family suites benefit from all the features of the double suite option, as well as a second en-suite bedroom.

Timber-effect walkways link the guest chalets to the main lodge building, a very impressive structure made out of canvas, wood, and glass. In here, you’ll find the sumptuous lounge, which features plush sofas, armchairs, and poufs amidst coffee and occasional tables, a welcoming fireplace, elegant lighting, and an assortment of plants and interesting artifacts creating a homely feel. Guests in need of a little quiet time can head to the equally comfortable library. The dining area, on the opposite side of the lodge, contains chic tables-and-chairs and overhead fans, and the chefs are dedicated to providing a fine dining experience featuring fresh ingredients from Old Drift’s own gardens. A good variety of drinks is available at the bar, and guests can also opt to relax and dine anywhere on the lodge’s spacious deck while admiring the scenery! A few steps lead down into a very smart fire-pit, which is surrounded by cushioned seating – this is where everyone gathers to socialize and share their safari stories.
