"Wilderness Linkwasha is such a well-thought-out camp, the consideration for traveler comfort and unique experiences is really apparent during a stay here! A huge plus of this camp is that it’s based on a national power grid, so it is one of the few camps with climate control, fans, and hairdryers. The lodge's facilities include a cosy winter library, expansive multi-level decks, and a pool with shaded salas – it’s ideal for a safari at any time of the year. The real stand-outs at this camp for me are the sunken hide at the waterhole in front of the camp, where elephants come to drink throughout the day – an amazing experience, as you can view these gentle giants from ground level – and the star bed sleepout with its own pizza oven!"

OVERVIEW:

Come and treat yourself to one of the finest camps and game-rich private reserves in Zimbabwe. Wilderness Linkwasha has a modern but luxurious design that feels like home. Enjoy the variety of game from foot in one of the best safari hides we have ever seen. Guiding is great, food and drink first rate – and guests in a romantic frame of mind relish the private-dining options! We recommend Linkwasha Camp for all sorts of reasons – fantastic accommodation, exciting range of activities, excellent service! We are particularly taken with the Winter Lounge, which makes the camp a good option all year round.

WILDERNESS LINKWASHA LOCATION & ACCESS:

It is the most luxurious camp in Hwange and is situated in an area fairly teeming with game, within the Linkwasha Concession and a short distance from Ngamo Plains.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT WILDERNESS LINKWASHA:

The main areas of camp are spacious, contemporary and airy. They comprise a relaxing lounge, smart diner, sophisticated bar and library, all housed in an open-fronted structure affording wonderful views out to a waterhole and across the plains. There is even a Winter Lounge, with fireplace and small dining area, to ensure guests keep warm during the cooler season. Outside, multi-level decking leads down to a plunge pool, perfect for when the temperatures soar! And there is also a campfire area, with comfortable seating.

Wilderness Linkwasha’s guest accommodation consists of nine luxury tents, including one family unit. All boast interiors as stylish as the main lodge, with features such as ceiling fan, mini bar, air-conditioning, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Each en-suite has a flush toilet, basin and indoor shower. All tents are well placed to provide amazing vistas of the waterhole and plains.

WILDERNESS LINKWASHA ACTIVITIES:

  • The camp’s location within a private concession guarantees great game viewing – so activities are centered on day and night game drives in addition to walking safari. Viewing from hides is available too.
  • Wilderness Linkwasha is home to all Big Five animals and numerous other species – giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, eland. The concession’s birdlife is also very impressive! Nocturnal sightings tend to be of hyena, pangolin, mongoose and porcupine – guests who are feeling especially adventurous might appreciate a night under the stars, on the camp’s sleep-out deck.
  • And like its sister camp, Wilderness Davison’s, Wilderness Linkwasha offers a four-hour excursion to a local village. Guided by a villager or Wilderness guide, guests are encouraged to tour the local school, meet the village headman/headwoman and get to know the villagers.
  • There is also the opportunity to learn about the local wildlife from the camp’s resident ecologist. There really is a lot to do here!

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
