OVERVIEW:

Camp Zambezi has a lovely location on the banks of the mighty River Zambezi. It is owned and operated by Natureways Safaris.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Mana Pools can be accessed via flight from Victoria Falls or Harare, followed by road transfer. Camp Zambezi is situated alongside the Zambezi river, in the shade of trees.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT CAMP ZAMBEZI:

Guest accommodation at Camp Zambezi consists of Meru-style tents, in which an extra layer of canvas forms a covered veranda. These are also set up on the river bank. Inside, there are comfy beds, hurricane lamps, and storage space for clothes and other belongings. The en-suite facilities occupy canvas enclosures behind the tents. They comprise a long-drop toilet and a classic bucket shower! Washbasins are positioned in front of the tents, and staff members fill each basin with hot water every morning.

The communal spaces are found in a large tent, and they include a comfortable lounge and a convivial dining area. Guests can also dine outside, enjoying not only delicious food and drink but also spectacular views of the river! The camp has a fire-pit too, which is the perfect place for social gatherings and a little stargazing come nightfall.

ACTIVITIES AT CAMP ZAMBEZI:

Camp Zambezi offers an exciting range of activities.

  • Game drives take guests inland to explore Mana Pools’ astounding variety of habitats, not least the park’s famous four large pools, its smaller pools, and its scenic sand banks and forests. A few wildlife highlights include lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, elephant, zebra, warthog, waterbuck, eland, impala, monkey, and baboon! There are over 350 types of bird too, which is great news for keen birders.
  • The camp’s walking safaris are ideal for travelers hoping for an in-depth look at the plant and insect world of Mana Pools, as well as close encounters with some of the much larger species. The park’s big bull elephants are renowned for feeling at ease around the guides, which makes for some memorable experiences!
  • You can also observe the wildlife from the water, gliding alongside whole herds of animals in an 18-foot Canadian-style comfy canoe.
  • Fishing is possible too, and especially popular in September and October, when the tiger fish bite!
  • Full-day excursions may be made from camp, with guests canoeing around Mana Pools’ magical islands and trying out a few of the best fishing spots.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
