As one of the better-value Livingstone properties in our portfolio, it’s also a perfect fit for more budget-conscious travelers visiting the falls."

OVERVIEW:

The David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa is an excellent option for travelers seeking a very comfortable base from which to explore Victoria Falls and surrounding areas.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Most guests of the Safari Lodge approach by road from the international airport at Victoria Falls, a drive of only 10 minutes. The property has a fabulous location on the banks of the River Zambezi, and it owns a private boat. The entrance is fairly grand, and the communal buildings bring to mind a classic safari lodge on a large scale! The camp is approached along a neat brick road through the grounds, which include an assortment of trees and a free car park.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT THE DAVID LIVINGSTONE SAFARI LODGE & SPA:

Inside the main lodge, there is a lounge featuring leather sofas, sprawling coffee tables, and explorers-era chests for an authentic feel. The restaurant, Kalai, is on the upper story of the lodge – here, guests can relax in style and enjoy some delicious Afro-Arabian cuisine. Snacks and lighter meals are on offer downstairs at the bar, a welcoming space that extends onto Gwembe Terrace, the perfect place for cocktails at sunset! The property also benefits from a small gym. Guests in need of a little pampering will love the spa, which provides a wonderful range of massages, skin care treatments, and beauty treatments including mani-pedis. The lodge’s infinity pool has lovely views across the Zambezi, enticing guests to take a very scenic dip! And the conference center, situated within Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, contains 250 square kilometers of space featuring a boardroom for a maximum of 12 delegates, break-out rooms, and all the state-of-the-art equipment required for a successful business event.

Guest accommodation at Safari Lodge consists of a grand total of 77 suites and rooms. All boast beautiful views over the river! Five come under the category Signature Suite and are equipped with a comfy double bed or twin beds, a lounge area, air conditioning, a satellite television, a telephone, internet and email facilities, a mini-bar, a safe, a separate bath and shower, an indoor Jacuzzi, and a private balcony. Services include wake-up calls, 24-hour room service, laundry, and a tea-and-coffee butler! The remainder of the accommodation is made up of the Standard Room option, including two rooms for disabled people and three interleading rooms that are popular with families. Guests of the Standard Room enjoy all the amenities of the Signature Suite, except for the lounge area and the Jacuzzi. Overall the accommodation is very well appointed. There’s a daily maid service too.

ACTIVITIES AT THE DAVID LIVINGSTONE SAFARI LODGE & SPA:

Once you have settled in and feel ready to start exploring, you need only head to Safari Lodge’s Activity Centre! Here, helpful staff will help you decide how to spend your time and book you onto tours, trips, and other adventures.

  • You could begin with a tour of the Falls themselves, before trying out some wet-and wild watersports. White water rafting, gorge swinging, bungee jumping… it’s no wonder that this part of the world is a real hit with adrenalin junkies!
  • However, calmer pastimes are possible also, such as fishing and river cruises aboard The Lady Livingstone, Safari Lodge’s own boat. Wildlife fans are sure to appreciate game drives in Vic Falls National Park, as well as elephant encounters.
  • Livingstone town is well worth a visit too, not least for its fascinating museum. The Livingstone Museum was established in 1934 and houses a collection of photos, a few of the explorer’s personal belongings, and lots of intriguing artifacts. Altogether there is plenty to keep everyone entertained!

*This hotel is fenced, however being on the Zambezi River means that animals do still wander into the grounds. If you opt to stay here please be cautious and look out for potentially dangerous wildlife at all times and especially at night.
