Kampala Serena Hotel is situated in the centre of the bustling city of Kampala, within approximately three hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds.

OVERVIEW:
Kampala Serena Hotel is without doubt one of the finest hotels in Uganda’s capital city, perfect for stop-overs and city breaks alike. It is run by Serena Hotels, which provides top-quality accommodation across Africa and Asia.

ACCESS & LOCATION:
The hotel is just 40 kilometres from Entebbe International Airport and easily accessed via road transfer.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
It is a tall and imposing building, featuring sturdy pillars and ornate balconies in its design. Inside, there are ample lounge areas for relaxing after your journey and planning your stay. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants. These include The Pearl of Africa, an opulent eatery offering international, national, and regional cuisine. The Lakes Brasserie overlooks Kampala Serena’s water gardens and provides a hot and cold buffet, a selection of patisserie items, and an ice cream bar. The Explorers Italian Bar serves up the finest of Italy’s dishes amidst safari artefacts and sepia photographs, while The Mist Bar takes inspiration from the film Gorillas in the Mist to create a space full of light and waterfalls. The Pool Terrace specialises in family snacks and is close to the hotel’s spacious swimming pool. Kampala Serena also has a gym and a spa, with steam rooms, a sauna, a massage room, and treatment rooms. And the conference facilities are extensive – the Victoria Auditorium large enough for 1,500 guests… the Nile Gallery with adjoining meeting and break-out rooms… the latest audiovisual equipment… and a state-of-the-art business centre too.

The guest accommodation at Kampala Serena consists of 152 rooms and suites, in five categories – Deluxe Room, Executive Room, Executive Suite, Business Suite, and Royal Suite. All options are fully air conditioned and amenities include direct dial telephone, satellite television, tea- and coffee-making facilities, a mini-bar, a safe, a hairdryer, and a well-appointed en-suite bathroom. Guests receive complimentary bathrobe and slippers, as well as free Wi-Fi and daily newspaper. The difference among categories is mainly the size, as the Deluxe Room has a smaller seating area than the more expensive Executive Room. Both the Executive Suite and the Business Suite benefit from a larger lounge-and-dining area, while the Royal Suite takes luxury to a whole new level with its marble reception area and private washrooms, drawing room, private kitchen and dining room, and even extra rooms to accommodate guests. All rooms and suites have either a terrace or balcony, with lovely views of the Hotel grounds.

ACTIVITIES:
From this super-sumptuous base, you can head out into Kampala and check out a range of attractions. The Uganda Museum, the Uganda National Theatre, and the markets of Nakasero and Saint Balikuddembe are all worth a visit, and the city has a wealth of shopping centres, restaurants, cafés, and bars. Each of the seven hills on which the city was built has something of interest too, from the Kasubi tombs to the Kibuli mosque to the Rubaga Catholic Cathedral. If you are here for a few days, you could consider travelling a little farther afield. Just 20 minutes’ drive from the hotel is sister property Lake Victoria Serena, where you can enjoy a few rounds of golf. You could while away an afternoon in Entebbe’s botanical gardens, or get stuck into some wet-and-wild watersports in Jinja, the adventure capital of East Africa. About 32 kilometres from Kampala are the breathtaking Sezibwa Falls. Here, the birding is brilliant – and if you are feeling energetic, you can do some rock climbing too. Nature lovers will also appreciate an excursion to Ngamba Island, where 40 hectares of rainforest provide a sanctuary for chimpanzees found orphaned in the wild.

Staff members at the hotel are happy to offer advice on how best to spend your time in and around Kampala, and then to make all the arrangements for you. A variety of packages is available, so please get in touch with us to discuss which best suits your needs. Free parking is provided on site, and there is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Reception services include concierge, luggage storage, currency exchange, and express check-in/-out. A laundry service is available at extra cost, while business facilities feature use of fax machine and photocopier as well as a number of banquet options. Children are considered too, as adjoining rooms are available for families, in addition to extra cots and beds, and a babysitting service. The hotel has a fabulous paddling pool, and staff are able to organise plenty of activities with youngsters in mind. And if you are staying here as a honeymooning couple, you can expect all sorts of little treats – a private double suite in the spa, private massages in your room, a candlelit dinner in The Pearl of Africa restaurant, and even an extension weekend to Murchison Falls or Queen Elizabeth National Park.
